Sa mga OFW sa Qatar, does the "recruiter"(a.k.a sponsor before) company still practice "safeguarding" your passports upon entry with or without your written consent?
Naka-state naman gud sa Art. 8 Law No. 21 of 2015 nga, "The employer must give the Passport or Travel Document to the Foreign National after completing the licensing or renewal procedures, unless the Foreign National has requested in writing that the employer retain the Passport or Travel Document."
Having your passport on-hand is still not a guarantee because you still need to "notify" your employer and under Law No. 1 of 2017, "Should the recruiter or competent authority object to the exit of the expatriate.." "...s/he may submit an objection to the exit petitions committee.."
I wonder if some ill-willed companies in Qatar is still exploiting our basic right to travel "legally" by using the loopholes in their labor law.
