" Philippine National Police chief Avelino Razon said the blast in the Glorietta 2 ground level at 1:30 p.m. was "probably caused by a bomb."

"This was a bomb. But beyond that we can't say anything else yet because we are still investigating. What I can say is it was not [liquefied petroleum gas] that caused this," Razon told reporters."

The explosion ripped through the roof of the mall and damaged nearby shops. Debris from the blast were scattered on the streets.

Another witness, Arel Vertucio, said the explosion was so strong that it was felt up to the third level of the mall. Vertucio said he saw some people lying on the ground.

from what i know, based on these descriptions, dako gyud na butoha... i know for sure that will not be an LPG explosion... kay katong pagsunog sa USC TC Science Bldg sa una, didto gud ko sa sulod tabang kuha sa mga butang when the chemistry labs blew up with at least 5 big LPG Tanks (i was a dormer once and we happened to be "merrymaking" that night hehehe)... wala man gani naguba ang flooring...

i heard that the whole metro manila is under red alert because of this bombing..

yeah, 8 are confirmed dead and the # of injured people are rising..

so sad.. tsk..tsk..

it's almost christmas and such a tragic thing to happen...

yes.. its really sad especially for the families of the victims.. but im sure this explosion is not enough to ruin the christmas spirit of every Filipinos.. when i heard abt the news i was in TRINOMA.. its like a sister company of GLORIETTA here in manila since its also an ayala owned mall only it was in quezon city, the mall was in total red alert and everybody were rushing to their cars to leave.. so do i.. but since i really have something important to buy, i transferred to SM NORTH EDSA, just in front of trinoma. the funny thing was when i enter SM everything seems to be normal.. everyone is calm and doing the usual shopping thing. then i came to realized that if its really a terrorism attack.. no bombing can make manila fall.. yes, its devastating as of this moment but in no time everything will be back to normal.

and how quickly Sen. Trillanes has accused the Arroyo gov't of staging this blast...
I'm not symphatetic w/ the Arroyo administration, but this accusation from the senator is just uncalled for.
Has he conducted an investigation already?
I pity the victims and i also pity the senator.
Apparently his incarceration has made him lose his marbles.
