Here in Saudi Arabia, things are starting to pick-up. Signs are positive and work is slowly coming in.
We are into finishing the detail design of our current project and would be transitioning to another one after this.
Good thing, my current employer is not totally dependent to Oil & Gas works.
Anyway, I'm not trying to compare who's company is better or not. Just wanted to give positive vibe and encourage anyone out there to stretch their career horizon. Though some companies are still laying-off people, there are also a few who are actually hiring right now.
Just wanted to share this.
In my 10 year career in the Oil and Gas industry, this is the second economic (O&G) downturn I have experienced. Current situation is worse than 2008. My boss once said "having a job right now is a privilege". Also, as advised by some senior O&G professionals, it's always a cycle (hire & fire), history repeats itself!
It's not uncommon for O&G professionals to job hop from time to time; it's because of the nature of work and job security itself. One of the few treats/perks that you have is the higher pay compared to other industry professional. This industry is financially rewarding if you know the "in & outs" as they say.
The Oil and Gas industry is a "tight-knit" industry, meaning, difficult to penetrate. As they say "How can I have experience if you won't let me have experience". That's always the dilemma of professionals who are trying to get in O&G with no prior experience.
My point is, all of you who currently works with Fluor or has work with Fluor in the past has an advantage, because, aside from the brand/name Fluor (very known worldwide) in your CV, you have now O&G experience. Use it as an advantage. The skills you've learned in Fluor will not only be limited to O&G, it's applicable to almost any engineering industry. My 2 cents.. cheers!
I've heard zero contract employee daw yung target plan ig March. How True?T_T
Nag sugod2x napod daw pang hire ug tawo para offshore / oil platform overseas.
Sweldo is questionable pa... pero the demand is noticeable...
