Firstly, there haven't been any long term studies of its effectiveness. some reckon the drug gives women protection for a minimum of 4 years or so... so if we give it to young girls like age 8 or 9 how are we supposed to know if they're protected by the time they are actually sexually active? And wouldn't it be wise instead to give it much later?
and second, there have been a lot of moral backlash over the drug... but if people or parents or the women themselves think they're "fully protected" then that's quite a dangerous misconception, right? the drug covers 4 or 5 strains of HPV which causes 70% of cervical cancer and we know there are at least a hundred strains of HPV not to mention several other viruses that causes various kinds of STDs....
Dorothea, yup its Gardasil. It's still quite new here but a lot are getting it.
LaBelleza, it's free there?! Wow. Not a lot is free here...
To everyone else, yup its around P6,000 PER SHOT. So P18,000 in all. But you only pay once you get the shots, so at least you have a 6-month period to save for it while getting your second and third shots
It doesn't address all causes, but it does address the majority. And better safe than sorry. It's a painful cancer to have.
Regarding the issue of sending wrong signals to girls, that's not the issue! They can still get the cancer even if they don't fool around. The focus is cancer prevention, not safe ***.
Lastly, my OB told me that for those who are married, while not as 100% certain, it can still be conclusive. However, since guys can be a carrier, you can actually have your husbands take the shots too! Something to think about. Twice the budget, but it definitely cuts down your risk.
Life is precious and health is priceless...
*kahinumdom na noon kos GENITAL WART dah, damn!
ang HPV sa kamot o other part sa body ba, mao ra ba na ang HPV maka cause og genital wart? naa man gud ko na basahan about ana sa isa ka site... and i think my brother who is a doctor also did mention it.

Also, yeah, it hurts. But just a sting. Then the arm goes numb for a little while. But after about an hour, it wears off and it's back to normal againVery bearable for the benefits it provides!
daghan kaayog nig type ang HPV. naay type nga maka cause ug skin warts but these type does not typically infect the genitals. but other types of HPV typically infects the "moist" part of the body like the genitals.Originally Posted by m1000

technically, it's a vaccine that protects against the most common strains of HPV (Human papilloma virus), and HPV is the most common cause sa cervical cancer...Originally Posted by ƒreez3
