MBC seeks dialogue on Duterte foreign policy shift

The Makati Business Club is proposing a national dialogue to tackle President Rodrigo Duterte's foreign policy shift, the group's chairman said Thursday.

Duterte has repeatedly criticized the United States, while repairing ties with Washington's rival, Beijing, raising concern among businesses with close American ties.

"We don’t understand why in the process of trying to improve relations with China, the administration would find it appropriate to turn its back on what we think is not only an important but a mutually beneficial relationship with the US," Del Rosario told ANC's "Market Edge with Cathy Yang."

"We would like to see a national strategic policy developed in terms of our international relations that reflects solid thinking and discussion among various sectors," he added.
