so why are we in school then?
You have taken me out of context here ... I'm talking about making the first impressions - Education is of utmost importance, like what I have said - being educated is one thing ... teaching discipline is another. That being said, personal appearances and opinions from others does matter - how then are you going to say you are at par with others if you don't know what others have?

What do you have against good grooming and being neat? Would it be nice if all students are like that? other than being bright?

During those times USC-TC was receiving a lot of visitors ... would you like then to be stereotyped as being "way ligo" ug "gikuto"?

When that Japanese visitor asked me "Is this how your students look like?" - how do you think I would react? Should I just say - "yes sir, ... but they're very intelligent". Bisan unsa-on ang appearance sa tawo is the one that generally makes the first impression. If you were on my case ... how would you answer?

At least you have to be presentable, that's the reason of making an impression right? Mamustura man gani ta mangulitawo. Those Japanese visitors were there to screen and hire our graduates ...

Now ... let me ask you - if you want to apply for a job, isn't it important that you also have to dress well and be presentable?

mao gani... because ilang gireklamo ang haircut ug uniform not the fees.
That's old news, there's no more problem regarding sa uniform and haircut. Ang init karon is ang ID which costs P250.

and until now USC is still receiving a lot of visitors... i remember a classmate of mine whose a japanese national told me "why do we have to wear this crappy uniform" and i asked him "in japan do college students wear uniforms?" and he said "no"... yes being presentable is a good thing, but we can be presentable in our own way. kung taas buhok ang isa ka tao pwede mana hipuson niya bah... kung gisi.on ang mga pants why not patapakan? or tahi.on? and you say mo screen sa graduates? well na.a na sa ilang kaugalingon kung mag binugo sila or dile. daghan ko naka ila na long hair na ni top og board exams... depende rajud na sa tao kung ni think siya sa iyang future...

naa raman diay na... ang problema ask those nga dunay tag-as ug buhok to keep their hair neat, unya katong mga gisi-on ug pants patapakan - pero unsa-on man na bisan bag-o ug karsones, buslotan naman hinoon. There are lots of ways being presentable.

Come to think of it USC has the right to impose uniforms for students - ma babaye man o laki, naa pud sila katungod to impose a "no id, no entry" policy (although the price on the ID is too much), its a private institution - it has its own rules where one has to conform.

I now work for a Multinational company here in Singapore which is very strict on uniforms, one has to wear long sleeves and tie, and no long hairs. I have to understand that I face a lot of different clients each day, image is very important to us as it would reflect our company. I didn't argue, I simply follow.

Why make a fuss soo much on the male uniforms? The girls in the university have been wearing uniforms ever since ... WHY IS IT NOT POSSIBLE FOR MEN?

Ang uniform dili man kaha bahag? Kana laging mga Nautical sa UC wala man lagi moreklamo sa uniform, ug mga Nursing students ... Di pa mo ana .. mugwapo mug samot basta naka uniform?

Is there something fundamentally wrong with wearing uniforms?

sir kolz with all due respect if i remembered carefully, ma'am alo was interviewed by the today's carolinian (1994 ata to i can't remember the year basta 1990-2000 somewhere in between diha) she was asked ngano ang babae mo su.ot og uniform and why and laki dile... and she answered "because the girls wanted to wear the uniform (basta ing-ana ang thought). the no id no entry policy is ok, there's nothing wrong with that. pero ang naka apan kay ila gi himo og business... inig claim nimo sa i.d pabayron paka sa sling og i.d case (sak2 bah ang term?)... nya tan.awa ang 250.00 na i.d mostly nangawala na ang nawong nangapapas, then katong green na i.d dugay kaayo maguba. na.a paning sticker para sa auto, mahal kaayo 200 pesos ata ang charge nila sa sticker >.<... kung dile na nimo kontrahan cge lang kag follow and follow manganad na ang admin.

there's nothing wrong kung pa su.oton og uniform ang students as long as gi PROPERLY CONSULT ang students (particulary sa male) then ang majority kay ganahan. pero dile man ganahan ang majority sa students wala pajud gi consult... gi diretso rag implement. sak2 bana sir? sir kolz teacher man ka, kibaw jud ka unsay sakto or sayop
