it takes two to tango bro...the neophyte should know the pros & cons whenever he pursues a frat membership (sadly to say, most of them ONLY know the pros, would sometimes ignore the cons of it)...for the fraternity itself, it needs to set limitation especially in its initiation rites particularly in the form of physical hazing, they should see to it that all neophytes has no history of any medical condition and prior to the initiation rites, it's in tip-top condition...they should also know their limitations in a humanely manner to avoid/prevent death...and hopefully achieve brotherhood - which is the main goal of every frat....

In a month's time this issue will have died down, & we will forget this thing happened. The grim reality is Cris Mendez will just be another statistic added to the current list of hazing deaths. Abolishing fraternities/Greek-lettered organizations is not the solution, but REALLY IMPLEMENTING the current laws/bills present, such as the ANTI-HAZING LAW. If they really want hazing to stop then they should really make examples/bans not only in universities but also in other institutions (PMA, PNP, etc.) & organizations that donot have greek letters for names but also practice hazing. Let's not be hypocrites guys, ERR LAWMAKERS, SCHOOL OFFICIALS, OTHER PERSONS IN AUTHORITY, ETC!

and in another few years time, another neophyte will die.. hehehe..
i dont see any reasons why hazing/training in PMA/PNPA etc. have to be reprimanded.. hehe..

There's a very thin line between hazing and things necessary sa training sa PMA/PNPA, it all boils down to respect for life more than anything else

I think there exists no thin line here. Hazing has already been defined by law as a form or one form of acceptance (in an initiation rite) by an organized group or military. Military training seeks to accomplish with a clear and very specific purpose that is to hone SKILLS in combat or survival. And yes, it's correct to say the reason why hazing (as commonly practiced here and elsewhere) has been outlawed is because it does not respect at all the life and dignity of a neophyte.
