i always have this one favorite group of stars. kanang 3 kabuok nga galinya sa middle nya naay 1 ka bituon sa isig ka end.
if i'm not mistaken mao ning orion's belt (3 stars - alnitak, alnitam, mintaka) nya sila rigel ug betelgeuse ang other 2.

i dunno kung unsay significance. i first noticed them pag grade 6 and till now mao ni ako pangitaon kung mag.hangad2 ko ig gabii.
seen them again last night, which lifted up my mood.

sakto ka bay Orion's belt na, nindot kaayo na siya, usa na sa akong mga paborito kay dali raman makitan, ako pud ganahan ang Pleiades or Seven sisters, kanang murag rosaryohan. nindot na sila kung binocular, telescope kay zoom in naman kaayo mura rana sila ug bombilya hehe

Alnilam bro ang tunga sa belt. Bellatrix ang taas sa Betelguese.
Nindot baya nga constellation and Orion. Mao na akong basehan paglocate sa uban stars. Ubos sa Orion right side is Sirius (brightest star). imaginary line running from Sirius to the belt above is cons Taurus with Aldebarran birightest . Sa taas towards the left is Capella then paubos Gemini ug Procyon.

Another favorite is cons Scorpio with Antares the brightest ug sa tail is Shaula.

Astronomy has always been one of my avid interests since I was a small boy. While in grade 6, I "borrowed" the magnifying lenses of my father, and made my first refracting telescope. There was not much to read and learn from at the time. But star gazing, out there in the poor barrio I grew up in, left treasured memories.

Now, technology advances make stargazing more fun and a lot easier. Since real telescopes are expensive even if you build your own, I highly suggest one to install an astronomy app on their android phones.

Sky Map is good. Star Walk is very informative and elegant app too. Naa pud Star Chart.

You can do it alone, pero mas nice if you have a buddy with you spending those nights out. I wish I had one, pero I am a loner man. I gaze upon the distant stars alone... just talking with myself.. and be amazed at the immensity of Creation out there.

Be able to recognize the stars up above.. and strike a conversation with the skies.
