Carolinians fight for our rights to express yourselves.....

No to no long hair policy!!!!!!!
No to new male uniform policy!!!!!!!!
No to 250 pesos new I.D. policy!!!!!!!!

Mao man kaha na ila gusto i-fight...cge go!
what's wrong with long hair? male uniform? what's the point?
Why? Kung short hair and mag-uniform....do they add some significance of the things that you're learning. Hay, ang hirap ng usc, more on the appearance. Do they know daghan sad sila graduates na wa pay mga work, hehehe.
Wa jud nay mga effect ng appearance2x sa school, once you go out...pastilan, real world! sucks! very different from the ideals we got from school...
i mean....u know....those little things, make no sense hehehe
yucks, so meaning ang fine arts sa usc, wa nay long hair...hehehhee pastilan....
engineering and architecture...mag-uniform and short hair?? bwehehehe
    faet!!! hahahha

as long as walay nalabag na law ang USC sa implementation sa policies, then there's nothing you can do about it... you just have to follow them...

I COULD CARE LESS if forced mo nga short inyo haircut and you get to wear that UGLY uniform... if that's their policy, you should abide it... to hell with this so called individuality in school, you can always be "the individual" because your looks won't change that... hala pwede mo magwala sa inyong mga nawong after makagawas mo sa skwelahan... if you can't accept that policy, then transfer to another school... pagka SIMPLE ra gyud ana...

what i would rather have the Carolinians do is to focus their attention on money-related matters such as the fees that they are making you pay on some things (other than the tuition fee)... para nako, mao nay mas angay ninyo questionon kay tanaw nako mas daghang magic magic diha...

It is just that because it is run by religious. no matter how christian or catholic or religious an institution is, say economic precepts governs it. It doesnt run with Hail Marys.
but it pretends to anyway. economic precepts? you can try to tell that to those who run the institution and enjoy watching their scandalized faces.

The students should take away the cumbersome weight of "responsibility to right a wrong" because they dont have the responsibility in this context, its a messianic complex of sorts which banners Righteousness and whatever virtue they so wave. But what underlies it all is that NATAROG ilang self-interest.
then to do that is to go against what that supposedly venerable university teaches. of course, it's perfectly understandable that one can view this issue according to each side's interests; these are things that exist anyway. what is left for us to see is which side should prevail. do we have the balls to point out which should?

Its a trading principle, you pay, accept the policies and get educated. If you dont like the price, the policy and the place why enroll or why continue to be there?
USC's brand of university education is not bad in its totality; this isn't the only thing that one considers upon enrollment. when you see something with minor defects, you do not leave it to rot and look for the best that might not exist. you try and fix what you have as much as you can.

then what is wrong? Is there really something wrong?

Its an ethics motivated from Ulterior motives.

Which should prevail? takes away the virtue as something that springs from internal moral principles, just for the sake of winning, just for the sake of practicality to one's side?

again, if i sell you this X , with all its conditions, then you bought it and later on you feel you dont like the conditions so you complain. There were no rights violated in this circumstance.

but it pretends to anyway. economic precepts? you can try to tell that to those who run the institution and enjoy watching their scandalized faces. depende nana sa mailad. If you cant pay your tuition, you cant go to the board and tell them "WWJD, What would Jesus do?"

this is why i am so disappointed. Everybody was making a noise when it comes to policies that are not that important, Uniform, long-hair, etc... but hardly have i heard a noise made by students complaining why the library was renovated in the middle of the semester. though there were a few, most of it though were complains not for academic purposes but for the charging of the library fee. This is a university, but most of us, if i am not mistaken is more troubled with the uniform policy than the all too sudden mid-semester renovation of the library, which is perhaps one of the most important facet of any academic institution. And why is this?
does this passivity reflects the social consciousness of the students? many of them who deem the uniform policy more important than that all too sudden renovation?

    Cheers!

i think what the_child is trying to say is that, if you can't change the administration's policies then get out from that school. personally, i am part of the school's alumni and thank God that we did not "experience" the fate that the carolinanian students are facing. true, what is wrong with long hair? what's wrong with male students not wearing uniforms and what's with the increased rate of your identification card? - NOTHING WRONG WITH IT in the context of a realistic society.

I had this sort of battling issues over my head regarding these new policies. I am also a silent protester even when I was still a student. Like why, why, why.. Even this new policy that I really find so ridiculous, women should wear at least an inch or 2 heels??!! (like what??!!) I mean inside me, schools should be able to show what is real from being so ideal in society. You can see a lot of long-haired men, students not wearing uniform in some schools, and low rate id's and women wearing flip-flops @ school - because that's reality.

But, you are in another type of society, a community that (lets' say) values idealism rather than realism.. For as long as you are enrolled in that school, you will have this little percent of beating the odds.

Frankly, I'm really against these new imposed laws and all. But then again, REMEMBER YOUR MAIN GOAL WHY YOU ENROLLED IN THE UNIVERSITY OF SAN CARLOS - that is to GET ONE GOOD EDUCATION, Regardless of the values and philosophy that they are trying to "impose" or teach you at school. Because that was what I told myself before. Well it 'll be a good thing that groups of students are there to voice out the sentiments of others, at least the school's administration will be reminded. As long as you know who you are and what you really believe in, and remembering to get that good education bec i think your parents enrolled you at USC to have that good education, right?

yeah, students need to reassess their priorities... there's also that reality that you may work in an establishment that requires you to wear uniform or to keep your hair short...

i'd rather have the students think about the academics, what needs to be done to improve it and also whether the fees that I'm paying for the facilities have actually been put to good use... request for more academic resources... maybe you can ask for support from GO's and NGO's who may be willing to help out...
