'Marvel's Damage Control' Half Hour Comedy Gets Script Order at ABC


Single camera sitcom about people who clean up after superheroes comes from “Daily Show” alum Ben Karlin

Marvel and ABC are getting into the comedy game.

The broadcast network has given a put-pilot commitment to “Damage Control,” a half hour, single camera comedy that follows the overworked, underpaid, clean up crew of the Marvel Universe.

Specializing in dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from super hero conflicts, they’re the ones who are in charge of returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, help to reschedule a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a super hero battle, or even track down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo.

“Damage Control,” based on the comic book series of the same name, hails from Ben Karlin, known for being an executive producer on “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report,” as well as a co-EP on “Modern Family.”

Karlin with executive produce along with David Miner and Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television. “Marvel’s Damage Control” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

So this has been in development way before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.



Before the network announced Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., former Cougar Town and Enlisted showrunner Kevin Biegel reportedly was developing a Damage Control project.

"I also flirted for two seconds/talked about trying to do a Damage Control show with a famous cool director that I barely know. We talked about it like four times over e-mail, that's it -- and then Shield [sic] was announced (f yer periods) and we were like, yeah... no one would want to do that."

I think next TV season. Or off season?

Would be nice to see them clean up after Thor: The Dark World. Chasing the roaming monster in London. Would have been a good Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D./Thor: The Dark World crossover but they went with some berserker staff instead.
