At least Philippines is still no.___? Among the nations in the world we are still top 100 of the lists hehe
i consider US as the best place to live coz based on my experience, i easily adjusted to their culture. well, i could say that most pinoys in here can easily adjust to american culture because first and foremost, philippine culture itself is heavily influenced by the americans... in the phils, we watch US TV shows and movies, we read books by american authors, we buy clothes from american brands and we eat from fastfoods which originated from here.. so when I got here, everything isn't really not that foreign to me... what's also good about living here is of course, the high salaries and affordable cost of living... still, i couldn't deny that i still miss my hometown...

yes its true, it can very cold in an extremely colder days. the coldest i have experienced is -27 degC but its not like that everyday. unless of course you are in the Lapland then over there its -30 everyday . but not in the southern part of finland where the major cities are. and actually, some colder parts of canada and US can be just as cold as Finland. but people just have this impression that finnish winter is overwhelmingly too cold and maybe its because we are in the northern part of the earth.Originally Posted by Namnori
those who think america is the best place to live havent really lived long enough somewhere else. i have lived in US for eight months and also in other countries in europe (coz of my work) and i can say most european country is the best place to be in terms of the environment and standard of living. and also layo ra kaayo nang USA in terms of government support for their citizens. anyway, just speaking on my own experience.
Youch, that sounds very cold. I prefer to live in a four season area. I too have lived in many places in the world (because of my previous long term job).
I agree with you that the U.S needs to catch up with Europe as far as health care and care for the elderly goes. They are HUGE things that hopefully will be addressed soon.... needing both a national health care system and revamped social security system should be top priority. Hopefully, they are not just empty politicians' promises.... which of course happens alot everywhere in the world.
Otherwise, support by the U.S. government to the citizens, in my opinion, is very fair... although these programs could use a little improvement (education, welfare, unemployment & disability benefits).
I am aware that, in Finland, health care is cheaper and education at all levels is free. On the other hand, the per capita income is 30% less than in America but Finnish still pay an average income tax of 50% (compared to 30% in the U.S.).
As far as Standard of living, that is VERY debatable to me.
Besides, as far as being a world power.... as a Jack Nicholson's Character once said "You want me on that wall, you NEED me on that wall"

siguro kulang lang ug information ang mga pinoy on what are the other countries nga nice to live pud (in an objective manner). puro na lang US usually. when in fact, there are so many other countries out there, and yeah, good and better in one way or another.
