kun thousand pieces ang imohang parts like an engine or other complicated drawings (like architectural designs & rendering w/ lots ug parts and lighting), inig render nimo ug 3D using a dual Xeon CPU w/ ECC DIMMs on autoCAD, diri nmo ma appreciate ang imohang HW na gigamit...

naa man daghan Eng'g apps pud na much better than autoCAD in specific work loads like 3D rendering. diri i-tailor ang HW gyud... workstation rig is not like a gaming rig...

3D rendering in AutoCAD utilizes Ray Tracing and this will happily devour all available CPU cores... the more, the better, the faster the cores, the best it is for this type of work load!

maong, better na tan-awon ang work load for autoCAD para swak ang HW configuration...

I'll leave it to TS which best route he should follow for his application....I doubt it if he will use dual cpu para viewports

yup, sakto gyud ni na comment bro. sila TS ra gyud ang maka decide kay sila ang mogasto... hehehe... business use man then legit ang apps (maka afford gani sila ani), so, better pair it w/ a HW config that is "best" for the work load...

ask lang diay ko, mura'g limited man kaayo ang tan-aw nmo on a dual Xeon CPU configuration on autoCAD kay you are just commenting on the "Viewports". simang man ni sa 3D rendering work load in which, mao ang akoang gi stressed-out sa discussion... tsk tsk tsk...

basta, kun grabeh ka complicated ang 3D rendering work load nila ug gamit lang sila'g autoCAD (Ray Tracing), then, kahibaw na si TS sa need nya na HW config...

    just to add...

naa gani diay to nag advice on one discussion thread na akoang na sugdan about "Desktop Based Workstation rig" diri before na for 3D rendering work loads, mas better na specific rig for rendering use ang gamiton for business kay mag depende ang completion time sa work load na gi render. this suggestion makes sense pud baya. para 100% utilization gyud ang HW for the money making rendering work load. para dili sya mag multi-tasking para dali mahuman...

for architectural design 3D rendering, dili man autoCAD (standard version) ang gigamit nila but another product from autodesk like the AutoCAD Architecture & AutoCAD C3D...

    disclosure...

for the dual Xeon on 3D rendering naa ko'y gipa suwayan diri's office pero, uninstalled na ang autocad 2014 kay jack sparrow version man to (bawal diri ang dili legit installation)... compare nako sa single Xeon... both rigs used 64 GB ECC DIMMs. dako2x gyud sila'g speed difference in 3D rendering time. katong file kay gi download ra to nko on one of the discussion threads sa mga architects. dili nko maka hinumdum unsa to na site. gi share to nila para ma samplingan... if my memory serves me right, in completing the 3D rendering job, it took 1 hr & 20 mins on a single Xeon and less than 45 mins on the dual Xeon rig...

way sayop nato tanan dre, wa lang magkasinabot hahaha

tubag ra ni's pangutana nmo but not sa application nila ni TS... for sure, dili sila mo gamit ani...

naa man ta'g ka kusa diri na gamit ug 4 x Nvidia GPU on his rendering rig dba? limot ko sa name nya. mura'g naka mention man pud to's bro LZ diri's one of the discussion threads na gamit pud nya ang mga GTX Titans in his rendering work load...

ok rman na @lloyd_joy nga mu gamit kag mga GTX ,Quadro..as long as ang gamit kay software nga mu utilize ug power sa gpu..wla sad koy issue anang CUDA core kay mostly amung ge gamit nga software kay autodesk and adobe.soo magamit rna..kanang i-ray ok rna cya kay gpu based rendering mana nga engine..pru dli na pwd sa autocad..i-ray is for 3dsmax, maya, revit ug rhino....well ang point sad nko gud kay dli jud advisable mag xeon /gtx nga hardware kung autocad lng ang gamitan..mka dagan ra ang autocad ug i3 or i5 nya paslakan ug gt series nga video card..c TS na ang mu decide jud..haha!
