authentic japanese shinkens are expensive. there are some however that are really super expensive, considering the fact that they are made by famous japanese swordsmiths coupled by the fact that shinken forging in japan is highly regulated, thus stocks are always limited and rare. there are many good shinken replicas made in china that is relatively usable for kenjutsu practice. However, I talked with a local blacksmith here in cebu and said, there is no one here in cebu that could possibly replicate traditional japanese methods in forging. they could however make wall hangers, but anything more than that is next to impossible. Try geisha's blade which is based in manila. they make good quality swords for a reasonable price. a bit of warning though, it does not mean that when you watch samurai movies or stuffs in youtube, then you could do what they do with a japanese sword. swordsmanship is serious stuff which may cause serious injury or even death. if you want a sword just for cosplay, just get a plastic one.
