"Marka" Graphic Design Book




I think it's high time Cebuano graphic artists did something to show the world that they have the capacity to create graphic design products that have both of high quality and aesthetically beautiful. Making a mark in the international marketplace of graphic design is something we should start taking seriously, if only to be able to let the rest of the world know that right smack in the middle of the country in an archepalago of 7000-plus islands, is a thriving and growing community of world-class graphic design artists. I think we are equal to the task of taking on international clients and showing what we can do. We're not the alternative, we're not knock-offs and we don't do shoddy vectoring. Let's show them what we can do and put Cebu on the international graphics design roadmap!

I think now is the best time to do something to put Cebuano graphics on that map. What do you guys thing of an anthology of graphic art work? My friends in graphic design have been dabbling with the idea of a collection of really good, well-screened graphic designs to showcase Cebuano talent and skill. We've been putting out the idea and asking graphic designer-friends their thoughts about a book. We're even planning to call it "Marka," with a catchy subtitle like, "Imung style, imung marka."

We're still in the stage of finishing the project folio, and we'd really like to know what you think. You can post your opinion on this thread or email us your thoughts. We'd like to get as many of Cebu's best graphic designers on board with "Marka" and hope you guys can be with us on this. Like I said, we're still in the planning stage, and hopefully will be coming up with a definite screening process so we can show the world what's in our backyard. Cebu may be a small island just off the Pacific rim, but that won't keep us from being smack in the middle of the international graphics design scene. It's time to shine, boys. It's our time to shine.

SUBMIT YOUR ARTWORK TO THE "MARCA" BOOK.

The Concept
Picture a compilation of graphic design work and illustrations by the
top Cebuano graphic design artists. Picture your own work included.

"Marca (Imung Style, Imung Marca)," is a compilation in the works,
showcasing the professional and artistic skills of top cebuano graphic
artists and illustrators. There are no rules in regards to theme,
style or type of artwork. It's your style, your design.

The Design Elements
You can send in a maximum of three (3) of your early and best artwork.
Save your artwork at 72dpi and reduce the file size to make the files
no larger than 2MB each. DO NOT send the high res files.

Send your sample artwork to us through wwgniel@yahoo. com. Deadline: 03
October 2007

The Review
Screening of your samples will be done in a month or so. If your
artwork is chosen, expect to hear from us by mid-November.

Unfortunately, not everyone's artwork will be chosen. If you don't
hear from us, we thank you for your time and effort and hope you'll
try again for next year's compilation.

For the final artworks, please prepare a high resolution file. This
file must be print-ready and should come in A4 size (210x297mm), using
300dpi ONLY. no more, no less.
