Members of the flat earth society are an interesting bunch. I've met one of them. He insists that the earth is disc-shaped and the evidences that say it is round are fabricated by a conspiracy group. I thought it was satire--but it's not. There's no arguing with them. They do not want to change their minds.

Now that I think about it, the human psyche is fascinating. If it firmly believes in something.. more often than not, no matter what evidence is brought against it, it will find a way to dismiss it. Objective critical thought is often lost. Maybe that's the reason religion is strong.

I guess it's part of being human. It Reminds me of a quote from Carl Sagan:

"In science it often happens that scientists say, "You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken," and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion."

And that from an early age school children are intentionally taught about the round earth for the purpose

of hiding the truth of the flat earth.
