Default Intel 45nm Dual and Quad Processor Prices

HKPEC has released info on the prices of the upcoming 45nm Intel processors that will consume less power and run cooler than the current 65nm processors. Availability is early 2008. High end 45nm extremes will be available on Q4 2007. These are prices for bulk (x1k)OEM orders though. Expect premium for retail versions in the first few weeks.

you also need a new motherboard for it.

    add $200

965, p35 can not support the processor.

    x38 maybe..

    nforce 680i doubtful support.

Intel seems to go further to decrease the die size, which enables them to
add more cache into their processors.

just to be clear.. these are not the penryns themselves but the Yorkfield (quads) and Wolfdale (Duos) -- still under the Penryn family

Asus will support the new 45nm procs on its P965-based P5B boards by doing a bios update. This is good news. if they can do it. most likely other manufacturers would follow suit.

allendales and conroes can already do that 1ghz+ overclock. I got my e4300 (1.8Ghz) OC to 3.2Ghz on air. So I guess it would be safe to assume we can overclock it past 1.5. Although i'm not too optimistic on that as reports show that dual cores are more overclockable than quad cores.
