for your info about dengue:
taken from wikipedia encyclopedia
Signs and SymptomsThis infectious disease is manifested by a sudden onset of fever, with severe headache, muscle and joint pains (myalgias and arthralgias — severe pain gives it the name break-bone fever or bonecrusher disease) and rashes; the dengue rash is characteristically bright red petechia and usually appears first on the lower limbs and the chest - in some patients, it spreads to cover most of the body. There may also be gastritis with some combination of associated abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
Some cases develop much milder symptoms, which can, when no rash is present, be misdiagnosed as a flu or other viral infection. Thus, travelers from tropical areas may inadvertently pass on dengue in their home countries, having not being properly diagnosed at the height of their illness. Patients with dengue can only pass on the infection through mosquitoes or blood products while they are still febrile.
The classic dengue fever lasts about six to seven days, with a smaller peak of fever at the trailing end of the fever (the so-called "biphasic pattern"). Clinically, the platelet count will drop until the patient's temperature is normal.
Cases of DHF also shows higher fever, haemorrhagic phenomena, thrombocytopenia and haemoconcentration. A small proportion of cases leads to dengue shock syndrome (DSS) which has a high mortality rate.

lahi naman ang dengue nowadays. gone are the usual symptoms of 5 days fever. karon kay maski 3 days fever lang then pagka wa sa fever kay drop na dayoun ang platelet count. ang likayan lang sa dengue kay ang bleeding raman. mao ra nah ang delikado niya but king mu ubos nasad ang platelet kaayo, then you areat risk of bleeding

Bleeding is the culprit and many patients have landed in the iccu because of this stage of the illness already. worse, death.Originally Posted by francis21
So to stop the bleeding for good, something is needed.
if its dengue, the fever doesnt go away even with interventions like sponge bath or antipyretics. the fever usually peaks and become normal and then peaks again.. is that intermittent fever or relapsing? im not sure. you'll probably have tummy ache specifically on the right side because your liver would swell. i think that's as much i know. errr~
i think what you are referring to with intermittent fever is malaria and not dengue fever. dengue fever is just usual fever but when the fever subsides, the platelet count goes down. then the fever will go back in two to three days.Originally Posted by Miss Mae
