Please point me to the verse that God says man can do "anything". I'm not denying man's sinfulness. What I'm pointing is man should live a holy life. That's a calling for every believer. Just because man sins doesn't excuse him from the penalty of living in sin. When Jesus heals/forgive people, he'll always say go and sin no more. Jesus calls for it, the Apostles calls for it.
For sure, not everyone is going to be a Pope. Sin is, and always, inevitable. This is why we continually need to do good to tip the scales in our favor.
Yes but Peter's letter was not written for himself. When he said "for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”, he was not telling it to himself. He was telling it to the church. His epistle was written for the church.
I know someone who committed premarital s*x with her boyfriend, yet she still helps the needy in more ways than one. She sinned, as the Bible suggests that s*x is for procreation and not recreation, but the people who know her, including me, still think she is a great person. But then again, who are we to judge her?
It's not us who judges it's the word of God. If God says in his word that those who do those acts are fornicators, and no fornicators will enter heaven, who are we to ignore that warning? Why aren't we loving our brothers and sisters enough to tell them to stop doing those sin or else he/she will be in danger of going to hell? Telling your brother/sister to stop sinning is not judging. The word of God has revealed that those who do such things will not enter heaven. You tell them because you love them and you don't want them to be in hell.
I was just pointing it out since they are both infallible.
when you say both, you mean the Qur'an and the Bible?
Obviously the Bible does not need reworking, but look at what happens when you don't "evolve". Evolution doesn't mean a drop in standards or a rework, but to reinforce. It's needed when the time comes. And with the current Pope, we'll probably see that.
Are you implying that the word of God has, through time and changes in society, become weak because it needs "reinforcing"? What needs to be "reinforced"?
As I observe in our society today, the only thing that needs change is man's standard because ours is going down.
The Bible is just a guide book on how to live our lives and the very foundation of what is acceptable to Christians.
Because sexual immorality is unacceptable to Christianity, they should repent or else stop going to church and claiming to be a Christian because they're only wasting their time. They're only insulting God and fueling His anger. How can someone call himself a Christian when you're not following the guidebook on how to be a Christian but instead doing things that's considered unacceptable to Christianity? Unless they repent, they're only pushing the heat up of the oil of God's wrath.
Besides, Jesus gave absolution and redemption to one of the two thieves who was nailed next to him, in which he would have gone straight to Hell because "Thou shalt not steal." Same thing for gays? I beg to differ.
He would've have he not repented. Same thing for all sinners no matter what we think the gravity of their sin is. To God, a sin is a sin. After all it's not what we think that matters, it's what God thinks.
