The affidavit and the testimony of the whistle blower do not point out that it was Mike Arroyo as the mystery man. Actually, he is pointing out Abalos as the sole person who is liable for the controversial deal.

I've heard commentators this morning and that a picture was shown to prove that the FG was there in the meeting. But the picture was taken in 2005. I can only lament to those who are using this matter to scandalize things.

Now to the other arguments 1) ZTE is pretty much known accross the world with a proven record, AHI on the other hand is a company listed with a 300,000 peso paid-up capital. 2) ZTE has a website.. LOL ... yes, a website, at least for this matter, matters (there's geocities if they can't afford one). How can you call yourself a telecommunications company gunning for multi-billion projects and yet you don't have a website. 3) ZTE can fund itself.. where will a company with a paid up capital of only 300,000 pesos get the money to fund the project?... and to make it more interesting, AHI is just a startup. Assuming they can undertake the project, they don't have the capability to accurately come up with a proper cost analysis since they don't have any experience with doing any form of business yet (specially with a such scale)... and another possible scenario is that it will end up like the CICC wherein we were told that it will only cost 200+ million pesos then all of a sudden it ballooned to over 800 million pesos when it was completed... will come with the same or even more amount if that happens. If I were the government, it is a no brainer.
Correct! .. AHI could not carry out a multi-billion peso deal with only a 300,000 peso paid up capital and considering that his company is just a start-up. Besides, being the son of the house speaker, he should know that it is illegal for him to go into government contracts. The law is very specific on this.

Section 5 of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act states: “It shall be unlawful for the spouse or for any relative, by consanguinity or affinity, within the third civil degree, of the President of the Philippines, the Vice-President of the Philippines, the President of the Senate, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives to intervene, directly or indirectly, in any business, transaction, contract or application with the Government."

ZTE is world famous already in the telecom market but what about AHI?? ZTE has the capacity, capability and sustainability to fund and implement this project. I maybe a bit biased towards ZTE since my cousin works at their satellite office in Manila ...

There goes the truth now that Mr. Joey de Venecia is just taking vengeance for his loss in the award of the contract, but which he is prohibited to enter into being included in the prohibited persons to enter into government contracts under RA 3019. The same thing happened to Megapacific E-solutions which won the controversial award for the Election Automation in the 2004 elections. Said company also lacked identity similar to AHI in that it is a newly established company with a very small paid-in capital. In whatever way, the company which Joey represents really win the bid.

There must be somebody who is working behind de Venecia who taught him to point to the First Gentleman because their tactic of directly discrediting PGMA have not worked for so long.

Someone should challenge both Abalos, FG Arroyo, Mendoza and co.. and JDV III to a lie detector test.... let's see who will be willing to take it on.

I personally think what JDV III is saying is true. Pero there were statements in his testimony that were causes for suspicion... He made references to GMA as "My President" and was clearly bent on defending GMA claiming that she was not involved in the transaction despite opposition senators (estrada, lacson) leading on the logic that President GMA had a hand in the deal . It seemed as if JDVIII was trying to protect the president while placing blame on the FG. (Why defend the president if your aim is to bring her down?)

We have to be critical about what intentions JDV III has for coming out in the open on this deal. We know that his father is a staunch supporter of the president yet he knew that his statements would strain Speaker JDV and the President's relationship. Also, his actions place a big threat on his life and puts his father in a difficult situation...

For me it can only be either of these two scenarios:

    1. JDV III is telling the truth. He was disgruntled by losing the bid for the deal and is hell bent on letting everyone know about the corruption within the government.

    2. Speaker JDV or people behind him plan to discredit the Arroyo administration for some sort of personal/political gain (this being his last term and his ambitions to run for president)

With JDV III's statements... he really paints a clear picture on the events that happened... and despite the senators going back and forth on the details... he was able to stick to the story in detail. It's either that he really is telling the truth or is really a good liar. And honestly... I have no idea how doing what he did will benefit his father who might even be included in the deal as mentioned by Abalos in their meeting in China.

there was no question on the capability of ZTE to deliver the project. of course, they are more experienced and credible as far as setting up a broadband network is concern among the bidders.

what was the fuss all about is i think on the overpriced and the basis of awarding the contract. sa ZTE gi award kay ang ZTE man makahatag ug dako nga kickback! everyone was after the kickback without minding nga mangutang na sad atong gobyerno.

Section 5 of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act states: “It shall be unlawful for the spouse or for any relative, by consanguinity or affinity, within the third civil degree, of the President of the Philippines, the Vice-President of the Philippines, the President of the Senate, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives to intervene, directly or indirectly, in any business, transaction, contract or application with the Government."

applicable sad ni sya to Mike Arroyo, Benjamin Abalos, Leandro Mendoza and everyone.

btw, kinsa nakakita sa news gabii? i used to admire Luli Arroyo before pero karon wala na mora na sad syag si Gloria! instead of answering the issue, namersonal na man hinoun hastang pagka opaw ni JDV III sawayon man!

$320 Million is not really that expensive considering the scope of the project. If it would be $130M, maybe it's a narrowband network
