I'm rereading The Simple Life by Larry Roth. it's a compilation of articles on frugality.

gosh, i'm stirred up from within. made me question everything like, "is this the life that i really want? what will really make me feel abundant?"

i feel like a different person. coz know what, what will really give me that "abundant feeling" is a simple life...one that's not so close to what i'm living now:

    - i want to grow a garden

    - i want to live off the land -- harvest herbs and spices and vegetables and actually cook them for meals

    - i want to enjoy available entertainment--free ones...dili ang mga commercialized kaayu

    - i want to travel to places, even the ones not so mentioned in travel magazines

murag pang retirement. the simple but abundant life is beckoning me!

..i have been wanting to post here...then pag saturday finally nag meet na jud mi ni velvett in person...so of course nang hambog jud dayon ko sa ako garden he he he

..i used to be extravagant...most of the time not for myself but for friends and family....i still pick up gifts here and there kon naa ko makita nga i think niece A would like...or friend B would appreciate ...but not as bad anymore...anyway

1- i have started a garden...and my family we are starting to enjoy the small harvest from time to time...trying to go back to basics kumbaga...i am lucky my husband is an advocate about living off the land

2 - when i lived in the US (i just got back here a couple months ago) ....we did not have cable TV ...it was fine with me as i prefer to read books rather than watch TV....so we would go to the library ...borrow books and DVD's for free and watch one movie per night...after dinner...mao lugar among unwind time...unfortunately i do not think we have libraries like that here in Cebu...maybe we can swap books? hapit na nako mahurot basa ako baon gud...he he he

3 - i also "re-gift"...i used to think it was bad taste to give stuff nga given to me...but i have totally changed my opinion about it na...it is practical and diba ingon man sila "one man's trash is another person's treasure"

4 - nag "de clutter" na ko sa house....trying hard to only have what i really need...gamay na lang "frills" he he he...i saw a movie once ..nya it struck me....the character said "the more stuff you own the more they will own you"

^yes bilib jud ko sa imong garden, ms gwyn! im so amazed at the fact that in two months you have already harvested some of the veggies and herbs. Mother Nature is so generous sa? all it takes is a seed, some gardening and tending, and look we are given something that just registers as multiplication to me. it really is a miracle.

nice idea ang book swap! i'm gathering ideas right now for a frugality/simple living group...bartering/swapping would definitely be one of these.

nag-basa ko sa mga posts.. ka-nice ana oie..

our family is frugal... swerte pud bya mi na di kaau problema ang kwarta namo..pero my dad sees to it na kelangan paningkamotan jud na namo amo gipangayo.
dili mi kapangayo ug kanang mga dili jud kelangan..
and my mom, grabe jud ni cya mangita ug barato..

now, that im grown up.. i've appreaciated these traits..labi na ang pagka-housemaker sa akong mama..
my own frugal way is.. stay with the basics lang.. kay it wiill never go out of style, and it is ,most of the time, much less costly..

Hapit na pud pasko. Gusto ko mag frugal kay wa na ra bay koy trabaho (balik skwela). Now I'm looking for more ideas for gifts.

I was thinking of designing t-shirts for my sisters (nothing too expensive). I-alter, butangan beads, stones, paint etc. Mga bata pa ni sila so hopefully mo click. Then I let them know that I made them so they will be encouraged to use their own creativity. So it comes with a lesson. I'm thinking to buy plain shirts and extra materials for a kiddie activity so they can apply their newly learned lesson right away. Hehe.

I found there are printables online - for organizers, calendars, stuff like that. Or ako na lay mag himo (so much more fun) and print. I hope this is much more cheaper than buying from bookstores.

If I knew how to bake, nindut unta kaayo kay para panghatag. Pero di PA man ko kamao (gi klaro gyud ang "pa" )

Thinking about frugal ways is kind of a natural high man diay. How about you guys what are your frugal ideas for christmas?
