127.0.0.1 is the IP address of the computer you are pinging and not the router. Try to check the computers' LAN card if it is not damaged.

how to check a damaged lancard? and how to know if damaged na sad ang router?

if you ping your own computers' ip address at 127.0.0.1 and it's not responding, then try to pull it out and put another lan card. If the new lan card replies your ping, then the old LAN card needs replacement.

Depending on your setup, ping the router's IP address. I cannot tell what's the IP adders of your router since you are the one who specified it during the install

    Bay!
The 127.0.0.1 is actually the ip address of your NIC or ethernet card so if you can't ping that then you can't ping your router as well. Try this one bay:
    1. re-install the NIC driver & try pinging it again.
    2. If still the same issue, try uninstalling the NIC... turn off power & unplug power from computer then open computer case... remove NIC & plug it back again... close case & start-up computer.
(NOTE: If you hear a long beep sound & computer will not show anything in the screen, then open the PC case again & make sure NIC card is clear from any dust/obstacles & is also inserted tightly)
    3. WinXP should install NIC driver automatically. If not, install back NIC.
    4. Try to ping NIC again... If still the same issue but can access internet, try reformat OS.
    5. If wala gyud gihapon then it's time to replace the NIC card for both PCs. Follow onenet.cebu's suggestion.

Good Luck bro!... Just PM me if you have any concerns. Aju2x!

Formatting your computer should be your last resort if you experience problems with your computer. Unless you have a very reliable backup system, don't try to solve one problem by letting you suffer the agony of losing and installing your files again and again.

If you can't ping ur loopback address, there are 2 things.. either guba imong NIC or imong Winsock/Winsock2 ang corrupted.

Few things you can try at ur own risk

    * Reset ur IP stack by issuing this command: netsh int ip reset [ log_file_name ]
(log_file_name is any arbitrary file you can just create) ex: netsh int ip reset battleneck.txt
    * Repair ur Winsock by issuing this command: netsh winsock reset
    * Rebuild ur TCP/IP stack by issuing this cmd: netsh winsock reset catalog

Note: Each time you try any of the commands above, you should reboot ur PC before testing ur Loopback address again.

Try this and tell me what happens...
    1. Go to device manager (view and show hidden devices)
    2. Under non plug and play devices go to properties of netbios over tcpip
    3. In the driver tab

    continuation...
    3. in the driver tab select startup type as system and then click ok.
    4. Select Properties of TCP/IP Protocol Driver and on the driver tab select startup type as automatic and click ok. then close device manager and restart the PC.

    Try testing IE

if the same problem persists, check the startup type of these drivers again, if they are still set to disabled: go to Regedit
    Browse to: HKEYLocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services \NETBT
    Export the key
in the right pane, the start value should be (0x00000002) (2)

    Check: HKEYLocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services \TCPIP
    Export the Key
In the right Pane, the start value should be (0x00000001) (1)
    Change if Necessary
    close Regedit
    Restart the computer

    Go back to device manager
Go to action then scan for hardware changes
Go to view and show hidden devices
    Go to non-plug and play
Check Properties of NetBIOS over TCPIP
the startup type on the driver tab should say system
Check TCP/IP Protocol Driver and startup type on the driver tab should be automatic or system
    then click ok
    Test IE

    This should help hopefully...
    Good luck!!
