35mm f1.8g. Crop sensor ang d7000, so equivalent nana og 52mm ang 35mm kung e pair sa d7000.
stick to your kit lens.. lisod kaayo one lens for portrait and landscape kay ang duha naa gud sa opposite of the glass range..
traditionally ang portrait lens kay naa sa 70mm above.. personally for me I like the 85mm to 135mm range.. kay di kaayo mo flat ang nawong sa subject (85mm is the best for this) and for landscape it's usually under 35mm kay gusto ka mo kuha as much of the scene as possible...
but mas common ron mag gamit ang mga tao for wide para portraits para effects2x, mas rare ang landscape photographer mo gamit ug long lens.. pero feel nako naa man tingali..

if you want an everday lens in your camera, get either nikon 17-55 f2.8G (if money is not your problem) or tamron 17-50 f2.8 (have this lens, the non-VC, luv it).
but to answer your question whether 35mm or 50mm, i would say, I'll get BOTH lenses. I love both lenses. 35mm for landscape, 50mm for portrait.
how about investing ug nindot nga tripod.. maka tabang nah sa stabllity sa camera.. thus shaper image..
I'm sure ang mga manufacturers sa lens had sharpness on their minds pud.. either way if gamay lang kulang pwede ra man sa settings sa imu picture quality i.+ ang sharpness (sa 'shooting menu' , ad2 ka sa 'set picture controls' from there pili lang ka then i.adjust ang sharpness from 0 to 9)

The next version ana nga lens kadtong with VR ug ang 55-200 VR mas improved pa gyud ang quality.
For landspace, the 70-300 pwede kaayo magamit panahon you need compression effect - that is making your background closer to your foreground. Gamit kaayo ni for buildings or mountains at the background that you need to move near the foreground.
Kung tight gyud kaayo sa budget, one can sell the least gigamit nga lens to add some budget for a new lens. Kung di gyud madala, make use of the existing lenses and focus more on improving your technique with what you already have. For portrature and landscape, I believed you already have that range covered with your existing lenses. Ang wala nimo ang ultrawide nga pang landscape which is really good kung ganahan ka ug really wide coverage and the resulting effect of an ultrawide.
wow, salamat kaayo sa inyong mga tubag, tambag ug katin-awan...all noted..
OT:
I still remember when ph-photo-cebu (mailing list in yahoo groups) have scheduled meetings (EB) where we can share anything related to photography. It is during meetings (usually at a cafe shop) where one can get the feel of a lens he wanted to buy, makahulam from someone who already have it kung ok ba gyud paliton or not or kung mobagay sa iyang gipangita nga gusto mahitabo. Very effective and valuable kaayo nga pamaagi nga naa gyud kay first hand experience with the lens on your camera other than having discussions sa forum. It is also during meetings mag bayloanay ug books, magazines ug mga techniques sa photography. Is there such a thing in istorya.net?
Cases like this one nga naay gikalibgan which one ang kuhaon matabangan gyud sa mas maayong pamaagi.![]()
