then again, the anti-hazing law has not been successful. shows us that many fraternity people are into hazing jud. so ban the fraternies and we won't have problems na with hazing

Technically, abolishing the fraternities is just like abolishing it's name. There's no such law preventing people from grouping themselves, not unless if we implement Martial Law again, thus members of such groups can still meet and do their usual thing. With the mindset of people right now, especially the youth, who always try to fit in with what's "cool" or because of peer pressure, such groups will still exist.

That's actually why is think that such move of abolishing fraternities and sororities is a not a good move. First because the problem is with the people and second, there are a lot of good fraternities that exists out there.

Perhaps, a way to beef up the legislation against hazing is to abolish the particular fraternity through whose initiation has caused a reported death or a number of deaths by hazing.

That way, only fraternities whose members were involved in manslaughtering their neophytes can be held accountable for their members' violent and criminal actions and be rightly punished. Do not abolish/ban all fraternities, only abolish the "killer" fraternities. Meron just cause.

And of course put those members actually involved in the manslaughter to trial and get them convicted.

I understand MAKOY'S sentiments , its not that ang ANTI HAZING LAW is not effective due to reasons na RAMPANT gihapon sa HAZING ang FRATS . But his point na if ever ma ABOLISH ang FRATS , HAZING will still be EXISTENT no matter where you are . Even in families , clan reunions , boy scouting , barkada camping , lunch breaks etc .. HAZING happens unknowingly . Now will that be stressed and pressured tungod kay HAZING siya ? I dont think so because gi point ra man sa HAZING na existent siya sa FRATS , SORS , and ORGANIZATIONS .

Thats why go after those FRATS who practices HAZING specially inflicting bodily harm and physical injuries because there are FRATS that does not ENGAGE in anyHAZING at ALL but still has INITIATION RITES to preserve the tradition .

HAZING is negative and without a doubt, i agree on that. frat members only see HAZING on a positive note to justify the act and defend its purpose which is to hurt someone. let's face reality, no matter how frat members make an alibi about hazing, IT IS hurting someone to the point it's abusive. and to make matters worst, victims of hazing face serious injuries if not death.

that's what we call "lack of accountability". apparently these frat leaders don't know the term...just look at these fratmen-turned-politicians tsk tsk tsk...they're just there to save their asses.

i agree on that.

don't get me wrong but I AM NOT against fraternities. I AM against HAZING and fraternity VIOLENCE. what saddens me the most is the fact that frat leaders get truly accountable for the good deeds they do and proudly admit the good things their frat members have done to help the community (outreach, etc.). however, when frat members commit crime, they suddenly turn their backs like nothing happened.
