Are you kidding me?
Laws were written to prevent discrimination and for those who do, for them to be punished. Talk to your lawyer friends.
States and cities make legislations and by laws, and citizens and businesses have to comply. For example, VAT was imposed on certain goods which were sold and businesses have to pay up. Are you saying that's discrimination?
Sure businesses can oppose such laws, and challenge it in court, but if the SC says it is not unconstitutional, then it stays and businesses have to comply. That's not discrimination.
Unbelievable.
kalain pud aning magtagalog ta maski parihas mo bisaya. mo-come in na noon ang miscommunication ana. pwede raman ta moistorya maski unsa basta magkasinabot lang ba.
Again, it was an example. And read carefully.
I was the first to say I was NOT sure if there's a law against "regional discrimination ". And even there was, I am NOT even sure if what the manager did was in fact discrimination.
What I was telling you and the other guy is that just because it was a business decision, that does NOT mean people outside of that company (business ) can't say and should not saying anything.
Let me give you another example...
If a business specifically disallows non-Tagalogs to apply for a job in Manila, even if the Cebuano/Bisaya job-hunter can speak Tagalog, then can people not say anything against this company and this rule, simply because they're not employees?
Unta klaro na na. Kay di nako gusto binisayon tanan nako gitype. Kung di pa gyud ka kasabot, moundang na ko.
@fretburner S&R only sells to those who are members....isn't that a form of discrimination? (also take note that some business establishments are exclusive wherein not everyone can just go in or ask to be a member---bcoz it is their right---imagine eating in a luxury resto where you are just wearing a shirt and jeans...they have a right to deny entry)
atoa lang paspasan ang storya.. balik2x naman inyong points.
isa daw kamot kinsay mo dare ug apil2x ani na isyu and mo kugi jud og atubang sa tag-iya sa sm kay bati ilang balaod.
anisay nlng ta.
if naa man gani mo dare. hatagan nko ug jacket. haha
@fretburner referring to post #192 ....business establishments have rights to deny access to anyone for valid reasons(like the shirt and jean scenario)....as to the wheelchair law or PWD law, this pretty much pertains to the buildings and not the store itself since they are merely tenants and have no authority on the design of the structure...
as to post #197 , what? I was making a point on the right of the business to deny entry(as stated above) --asa gikan ang starbucks? :P
and yes you can wear a bikini to work if your job descriptions says so or if it is appropriate(bar, beach, resort etc..)
use what's needed. speak cebuano kung mga taga region 7 and other provinces that speaks bisaya then tagalog or english for the rest. simple as that.
at the office we speak cebuano, tagalog, english, some waray waray, ilonggo and ilocano. that's how diverse our "mix" here as a result of personnel from other regions being assigned here. we get to learn each other's dialect and encourage others to learn cebuano without being pushy or forcing them.
