would've preferred if they just continued it with Eve, Selene and Michael's daughter, and have India Eisley reprise the role or recast it.

As what I posted above; this film is--confirmed--NOT a reboot.
Last summer it was reported that a film Underworld: Next Generation, sans Selene, was in development.
Underworld series to continue without Kate Beckinsale?
Late August, Lakeshore Entertainment announced that they are moving forward with the 5th film in the series. The Hollywood Reporter mistakenly reports it as a 'reboot.'

Early this month, THR clarified that the movie is not a reboot, but a continuation of the series, with Theo James's David as lead.
