Both of them are mainstream, gi-merge man ilang stock claim into UAC, along with other companies by the Russian government... But they are fundamentally different companies. I think it seems like sukhoi has gained the upper hand because of their flanker series, before then western media called ANY soviet/Russian fighter a mig.

Sukhoi has been building pretty good fighter/bombers when Mig was dominating Russian military aviation... They had the Su-17 for example.

But yes, starting with the Flanker-series, it's all been Sukhoi. Mig should be thanking India and the lone Russian carrier that the Mig-29 is still being developed/upgraded. There was supposed to be a stealthy Mig 1.44 which could have put Mikoyan back in the game, and possibly the lead, but that was cancelled.

I believe the PAK-FA is built by Sukhoi.
