Default Need help in buying a used vehicle.

Need some help guys. I'm planning to purchase a vehicle. The car is in good shape and registered till next year. However the seller is the second owner. He has presented me with:

    1. An open deed of sale from the first owner (the space for the buyer to fill up is blank).
    2. Xerox copies of the IDs of the first owner.
    3. Original OR and CR under the first owner's name.

Are these documents enough though to transfer ownership, or do I need to draft a separate bill of sale between me and the second owner. And what other documents do I need just to be on the safe side. This open deed thing is very foreign and confusing to me. Haven't heard of such a thing in the States.

    Thanks for the help guys.

those documents you mentioned are good to go for transfer. just type the buyer's details on the blank spaces (if that's you, your name, address, CTC, etc.), then you can proceed to process it for transfer.

if you wanna be on the safe side, check with LTO the plate number if it has no alarm, have it makro-etched at the crime lab to check if the engine and chassis are not tampered. those are the safety measures you can take, i guess.

It`s more FUN in the Philippines bitaw joke, OK ra na TS, i-verify lang daan sa LTO VEHICLE PLATE then send to 2600, tan-awa kung match ba ang mga info, style na para maka minus ka ug fee para sa transfer of ownership, kay ikaw ray mag bu-ot pila imong i-presyo, wa pa tay IRS diri TS or you can do it the proper way though...
