His Airness!! Air Jordan!!!
there's also the factor that Kobe played for a veteran team during his early days in NBA (though it earned him 3consecutive championship rings), I would still like the idea of him playing for the Charlotte Hornets since we can compare if he can match the level MJ attained w/ Chicago...like if he can lead his team make the playoffs, championships...Personally, it's a win-win situation for him & the lakers to part ways now than next year since I don't think they're going to improve drastically and compete w/ the West's super powers....Originally Posted by koontz_circle
I don't think adding Jason Kidd or Kevin Garnett could get them over the hump, maybe both additions would but ONLY 1 of them, i don't think so....
jordan ko kay di mang rape.hehehe. btw, interms of basketball intelgns, gracefulnes, fighting spirit and charisma...murag si jordan gyud.
sa intelligence bro, c larry bird ug bill russell ang mo standout nako kay they played beyond their physical gifts..especially for larry bird...kay russell is wala cya magpadala sa iyang time in competing for superstars like wilt chamberlain sa scoring instead he played a teamgame and he made a niche for himself, defense wherein he won 11 rings...Originally Posted by theodore23
wow... nice, inspiring words master borgy....
Larry Bird, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson all were established stars in their times..Kobe is as well an established star, but sometimes mere skill doesn't earn a legacy, beyond every statistic, it is character that counts, tan-awa si Reggie Miller, no rings but respectable man gihapon iya legacy as a certified NBA star
nah I don't consider Reggie Miller a legend...there were times during his career that he competed w/ the very best but during the later part of his career, wala naman...aw hinuon playing for a team for 18yrs or all of ur pro career can earn u respect...but the most cherished respect is when u gain it from ur opponents, which kobe is earning now..ask them who is the star of stars in the US team now, theyd still say it's kobe..how much more the way he's handling himself in this tournament, he would gain more respect from his doubters....ingana man jud unta iya style of play, exceptional offensively & defensively, maovershadow lang ang defensive capabilities nila kay wala man sila daog2..saonz paita pud iya kauban oi...wala jud kalife2....sapoton nalang ka magtanaw....mahal kaau gibayad nya d kashot o kasalo sa bola....hahayz....Originally Posted by thadzonline
mao bitaw ingon ko nga established star sad ni si Kobe but dili pa established iyahang legacy partly because na overshadow siya ni Shaq sa una, the innocence and unchanneled aggressiveness sa iyahang youth mao dali kaayo siya madistract sometimes, but when you look at him, he's really handled all the pressure, the criticism so well..when he grows with wisdom and learn to be mellow, he'll surely be a better player.
quote from Iverson he can use:
"I know a lot of people hate me, but I know a lot love me too, so I'll just focus my energy on the people who believe in me", Kobe should just shrug off detractors and let his game speak for his character, stay cool and be a good role model to the youth
there's a quote from AI when he visited us way back many years ago.. the question was "Is there pressure in playing basketball especially in the NBA at its highest level?" his answer was a simple NO, y? because "for him pressure is when you go home and you don't have something to offer (eat) on the table for ur family".....Originally Posted by thadzonline
when Jordan entered the NBA he was all ready for the distraction, he didn't cause as much buzz as Kobe's entry, in fact he wasn't the hottest commodity, picked 3rd overall..His stint in the NCAA developed some sense of maturity in him and he was ready to take on the pressure of a professional basketball career. in other words seasoned na siya daan pagsulod niya sa big league.
compared to Kobe: came in fresh, young and innocent out of high school, picked by the league's most popular club with all the glitter surrounding him. He wasn't used to it and had to take some time to get used to it, a lot of expectations on his shoulders which could have emotionally, mentally and psychologically burdened him. And despite winning a number of rings a lot of people still look for him to prove himself every night and part of that thanks to the LA LAkers penchant for glitter, showbiz flair. Imagine how less pressure ang na experience ni Lebron James just because he played for a less popular club?
