Air21
Air21 signed both draft picks and former Ateneo teammates JC Intal and Doug Kramer to three year deals. Intal, picked 4th overall, signed a contract worth P8M, while Kramer on the other hand, picked at 5th, signed a P7M++ pact. Intal expressed his excitement playing for Air21 especially that the team's running game fits his game very well. Plus playing alongside former FEU and UE standouts and former Ateneo rivals Arwind Santos and Ni単o Canaleta is something to look forward too.
With the acquisition of both Intal and Kramer, Air21 president and team manager Lito Alvarez expects the team to win more games, especially that scoring machine Gary David is back from an injury.
Purefoods
Veteran shooter Noy Castillo might be heading to Welcoat. Castillo's contract has expired just recently and the possible acquisition of the more versatile and athletic Brandon Cablay might have made Castillo the odd man out of Purefoods who already boasts of guards like James Yap, Roger Yap, Peter June Simon, Paul Artadi and even veteran and long-time team member Rey Evangelista. Purefoods coach Ryan Gregorio has confirmed that Castillo has been trying out with different teams and a reliable source said that Welcoat is interested in the "The Golden Boy"'s services.
On the other hand, Purefoods is working on Alex Crisano's papers to let him suit up for the upcoming conference.
Jun Limpot might finally call it quits. For now, Limpot is still waiting for Purefoods to hand him a contract extension or other teams to acquire his services. Limpot puts Purefoods on top of his priority list and opts to retire as a Purefoods player. Though there are a number of teams that have contacted Limpot, the 6'6 forward/center has not given much details. If no deal will be made, the 35-year old Limpot might just finally retire.
Red Bull
The Red Bull management might open the possibility of sending guard Brandon Lee Cablay to Purefoods, a path taken by another former San Miguel player Rommel Adducul. Red Bull's team manager Tony Chua said that it might push through if the deal is good. "We're waiting what they will offer in exchange for Brandon," said Chua.
Meanwhile, with the ongoing talks about who's going to be the next PBA commissioner, Red Bull coach Yeng Guiao was asked about the possibility of him being the next commissioner and replied that he'll rather coach. Guiao, known for his unorthodox yet effective principles, was interviewed by Beth Celis of Inquirer about the idea of being the new commissioner. Guiao is open to the possibility, but he's more inclined to coaching. For the record, Guiao is one of the most successful commissioners of the PBL and it was under his term that ladies were given a chance to play at a commercial level.
San Miguel Beer
Finally a sigh of relief for No. 2 overall draft pick Samigue Eman. Eman has finally signed a contract with San Miguel after a long wait but refused to give out details of the deal. All Eman said that the deal was fair enough and was quite pleased by the offer. There were rumors circulating about Eman's possible trade or a minimum contract given to him but everything were rumors until he signed with SMB. SMB coach Siot Tanquincen was impressed with Eman's performance especially on their drills and practices.
Sta. Lucia
As of now, the Sta. Lucia Realtors are participating in the 2007 Brunei Cup. After a 67-82 opening night loss against the Darwin All-Stars, SLR bounced back with an impressive 75-66 over the erstwhile undefeated LG Sakers team of South Korea. Sta. Lucia is reinforced by American import Anthony Johnson.
Other than Sta. Lucia, Harbour Center represented the RP Team in the said tournament which boasts of one of the top PBL talents in Jason Castro.
Talk N' Text
The Talk N' Text PhonePals decides to keep their line-up intact. With the return of Nationals Jimmy Alapag, Asi Taulava and Renren Ritualo and the sudden emergence of Mark Cardona and Jay Washington, it's apparent that Talk N' Text will be among the stronger teams in the PBA this season. Rookie Yousif Aljamal, acquired through a trade with Air21, is the only new acquisition for Talk N' Text. The TnT management and forward/center Don Allado is also trying to come up with an extension after Allado's maximum contract expired at the end of last month. According to Frankie Lim, Talk N' Text's team manager, they still don't know what Allado wants and what the management is willing to give.
Welcoat
Welcoat pleads the PBA Board to give Alex Compton another chance to play, this time not as an import but as a local player. Welcoat coach Leo Austria expressed that they want Compton to play because of his contributions to both on and off the court. A standout in Cornell University, Compton returned to the Philippines in 1998 with a dream of playing for Philippines' professional basketball league. The 5'11 Compton was born in Makati Medical Center to an American couple during the time when his father worked as an engineer in Silang, Cavite.
Compton, Belasco, Wainwright and DeVance?
Did Alaska call Limpot? its exciting to see him in an Aces uniform
IMO, I don't see Alaska needing Jun Limpot. Alaska has a number of young and good big men in Sonny Thoss, Reynel Hugnatan, Eddie Laure and lately, Ken Bono and JR Qui単ahan.
dghana mga important players nga dili makaduwa karon sunod conference oy!
unsai dinuwaan neh Bono? si Quinahan naa ba neh siyay itsa sa gawas?
Bono is a big man who's got a decent touch from the perimeter. He's got the potential to be one of the rare big men in the PBA who could dominate both inside and outside, probably a combination of a little less than Asi Taulava or Eric Menk and a little better and dominant than Mick Pennisi or the de Ocampo brothers.unsai dinuwaan neh Bono? si Quinahan naa ba neh siyay itsa sa gawas?
JR Qui単ahan is known more about his defense rather than his offense. He can shoot from the perimeter at times but di gyud siya consistent.
BONO?.. he is the "sharpest BIG" perimeter and 3point shooter ive ever seen... stressing on BIG... body-wise... hehehhe...Originally Posted by SQUiDnine
QUI単AHAN on the other hand has a decent perimeter shot... but id prefer BONO over him...
FYI: BONO was the Scoring Champion of the UAAP last year.... averages 26+points per game... hehe
wala lang I just feel that his character, veteran leadership and championship poise and experience will serve the Aces well although the Aces are a pretty solid team by farOriginally Posted by yokam
^^ Mao pud, Limpot can serve as a "father" image or a coach to the younger Alaska team, labi na for rookies Qui単ahan and Bono. Problema lang, Limpot prefers to play for Purefoods.
