I think this is better than Avengers and Captain America: TWS.
loved Rocket, Groot and Drax. Batista's bad acting actually helps to make Drax standout. Peter was also cool. that dance battle against Ronan is one of the best movie moments of the year.
pretty good movie. the only things I didn't like were:
-the pacing of the first act. I would have also liked if Peter wasn't abducted immediately after his mother died and then cut to 26 years later.
-forgettable villains.
-Gamora was pretty dull.
-not a lot of variety when it came to the alien designs/races.
-the ending where they revealed that Peter is a special snowflake which explains how he was able to hold on to the Infinity Stone without being disintegrated. the power of friendship ending was fine.
as for Thay-Nose. I would have preferred if they just went with makeup and prosthetics instead of going CGI. I mean, Thanos is a pretty big guy in the comics, but he doesn't have to be exactly like that in the movies. comics Thor is flippin' 6'6 and 640 pounds of pure muscle and Hemsworth doesn't look anything like that.
anyhow, this is the best MCU movie after Iron Man 1. and if Gunn takes over for Whedon for Avengers 3, I'd be totally up for it.
edit: I take that back, TWS is still a better movie lol. I just rewatched it last night. Avengers though, which I've seen a lot of times, is arguably inferior to GOTG.

Hands down the funniest Marvel movie by far. Introduction pa lang ni Star Lord, you know what the tone of the movie will be. Been a longtime fan of Andy, err, Chris Pratt, and he nailed Peter Quill's character. Batista was great as Drax, several of his lines stole the movie.
Dat Baby Groot though...
