I really think they can grab some pieces. For example if Love won't be traded this season they can try to lure him. Lakers as well are willing to pay the luxury tax so I believe money will not be an issue for them it would just be a matter of who will be available and willing to be part of the purple and gold.

Yes , if not Love ( as there might not be enough to trade for ), there will be someone willing to take the cash and play for the Lakers in California ( who doesn't want to live in Cali ), As hard it is to believe with the sucky season we had last year , Purple and Gold made 100 million in profit , 39 million more than the bulls who were second , Houston , Boston and OKC as follows. So this franchise has the money , its a matter of planning into the draft , FA's next season and into 2016. I'm thinking for this year they did a swell job keeping it low on the salary end , hiring a coach that bleeds purple and gold , in the end they may just surprise some people while still on the Prize wc is keeping Mamba happy , draft , FA.

He's there for a purpose it's just hard to figure out yet how he'll impact the team but for sure adding him would be plus because of his experience with the Laker culture..

Hey Buzz , while the Lakers made some nice deals like getting some guys on short term contracts to build for FA, Wesley one year , booze on 3 mill something (wc I think would only stay for a year , but cheap ) , Kelly (2yr contract) for 1.65 first year and 1.72 on the 2nd year , .... but Hills 9 mill per year , a tad big but with a team exception on the 2nd year , were also using cap space for Lin's 15 mill salary next year but only 8.3 counts against the cap , and Swaggy's 21.5 over four years with a player option on the fourth , so on .. Personally looking at it aint so bad , yes we are on the path to building , certainly this team isn't a contender and may not even hit the playoffs, but I like Mitch not giving out lengthy contracts and freeing up cash when Nash, Bryant , Lin's contracts comes off the books. We are in a good spot in 15 and 16. Plus getting a first and second rounder for Lin deal is a plus. Laker fans will have to be patient because those W's won't be as abundant this coming season , then again we may just be surprised
