Still too early to tell. I have read about those incidents in the past, it is not just isolated to Russia/USSR shooting down civilian planes but that's not the topic at hand.

Ukraine has a lot to gain in this incident while Russia has none but may have everything to lose. Ukraine will have to play on this momentum to their advantage while Russia will have to show restraint. It really looks like a false flag. But anyway, there is still more time to wait for answers.

fully agree with you. let's wait for the official report from an independent body rather than immediately point fingers who did it. this could be a provocation to start world3 which is not good.

There wasn't any war after this. There was compensation but no official apology. This then led to the Lockerbie bombing incident. Though the conclusion of the Lockerbie was controversial in itself.

There wasn't any ATC in Donetsk since it was destroyed during the early stages of the conflict. The incident you are referring to may be that one referred by a spanish ATC who was surprised to see armed men barge into the only ATC in kiev and remove flight record and sanitize the whole situation. Ukraine under Poroshenko is still disorganized compared to the rebels and it may be a conflict of interest between the ministry of interior and the ministry of defense of Ukraine.
