Foodtrippin at Düz Grill 062914...
Well this place is a bit hard to find for those who don't know the place, tucked inside San Antonio Village, it offers a nice quite place to dine and hang out, it's also the owners residence. Perfect for dates and the like, kinda felt out of place for a moment there hihihi...
Tried their popular dishes...
Ribs, comes in regular and spicy flavors, cooked with herbs and spices like star anise, pepper corns and bay leaf. Mild tasting, not overpowering, the blend of herbs and spices plus the tenderness of the meat makes this a succulent meal...
Pork tenderloin, done ala bulgogi style, sweet and a bit spicy. Good rice topping for the money...
Pork kebabs, savory pork barbeque with potato on skewers, another sweet and smokey treat, hallmark pinoy bbq flavors good for opening the appetite...
All in all, the place is ok, nice ambiance, not many people and a good place for those who do not want to be seen(ehem)

Sabagnet...
Well, was drawn to this place because of the... saging... The place is nice, reminiscent of pizzarepublik. Their lighting is pretty cool, using vintage light bulbs... Sadly I was not impressed with the food and service, had to cancel the rest of the order due to frustration...
Anyways, they are still in the soft opening stage, hopefully they can do better next trip, as their concept is unique.
Foodtrippin at Cafe Tavera, Tavera street, Davao City.
This time around while going around Davao looking for a place to have dinner, chanced upon this little cafe that seems inviting enough. Went in and tried it out, couldn't be happier. The food was really great, the owners a husband and wife tandem was so accommodating and nice ambiance too, never mind the noise of the patrons that filled this place to the brim... I wonder what it is in this City that a husband and wife operated resto seems to serve really great food... First, Tiny Kitchen, now this... There must be something in the water here... Gotta find more of these mom and pop shops around here...
Anyways, here goes...
Tasty imbao soup, freshness is excellente...
Fresh mushrooms with shrimps in oyster sauce, a good starter with the earthy taste of locally grown mushrooms tempered by the shrimp and sweetness of the oyster sauce...
Fried dragon balls, well for a moment there, I thought do dragons have balls? Reminds me of Hong Kong cooking...
Shanghai fried rice, this one is just ok, nothing special, good enough to fill you up in case you still have space left...
Kinilaw na malasugue, seems pretty standard, fresh and clean tasting, could do better if they put biasong(local kaffir lime) in...
Grilled tuna belly, now this one is the winner for tonight's show, never tasted tuna belly this perfectly done. They grilled it to perfection, perfectly done inside and out, the meat is soft and tender but still perfectly well cooked inside, seasoned just right too, I can taste a hint of patis which indeed enhances the taste of grilled meats. Kudos to the chef for this one!
This place not only serves great tasting food, the speed in which they manage to serve it is worth noting too. Soup went out not more than five minutes after I picked those bivalves, the rest followed, and they saved the best for last, their perfectly grilled tuna belly, which is normal for anything grilled right...
I highly recommend this place!
A happy camper here.
