Mao ra ghapon istoryaha, kalampag time sa CHR nasad na. Lahi na sad na issue afterwards...
As far as I know, the PNP does not have a standard issue rifle.
There are some units though that through the local government unit's funding the acquisition of AKs, like the Negros Oriental PPO and a city in Cagayan Valley are few that are using such rifles.
Kung maka remember mo, kato time nila Trillanes, nag rebelde sila tungod kay suko sila sa ila mga commanders kay maoy tig supply ug armas sa milf.
Mao rapod ni kasoha ga,ing lang kay PNP ang involved.
they aren't standard issue or from any PNP armories, those rifles were bought from a legit supplier and licensed to several security agencies by the FEO. They are saying that there was a failure to exercise due diligence on the part of the accused cops because those guns didn't go to the named security agency, but to the commies. They even went further with the investigation to see if graft/corruption was involved, but this was unsubstantiated AFAIK.
Imho, this hoopla started when Petrasanta raided those CIDG men recycling confiscated shabu... More like a turf war inside the PNP, as Petrasanta is rumored to be the next chief...
this AK47s are not intended to be used by the PNP. said FAs were bought by a certain person who owns a security company. his reason of buying these FAs is to arm his guards securing mining companies located in NPA infested areas. however according to the investigations conducted by CIDG, the FAs were instead sold to the NPA.
it is not the PNP officers who were involved in selling the FAs. However they were implicated in granting the authority for that certain person to buy large cache of high powered FAs. Supposedly, with that number of FAs bought and amount of transactions, it should serve as red light giving warning to the FED officers that something fishy with this transaction. further investigation should have been conducted before the necessary papers were approved. however that was not done, so thats why they were implicated for lack of due diligence in approving the necessary papers...
