Seldom na ko maka hear music from harmonica nowadays. I wish our local tv shows will encourage programs or contest to revive interest in this kind of musical instrument.

Hello harpmen! Long time no hear! the better-quality harps can be found at JB Music -- Hohner ug Suzuki brands. Sa mga seryoso makat-on, palit nalang mo'g nindot nga harp, medyo mahal pero di pud maanugon inyong kwarta. For the Hohners, look for Hohner Special 20 made in Germany. For the Suzuki, get the Bluesmaster made in Japan. (I do not recommend the Suzuki Folkmaster).

Then prepare to shell out some more hard-earned cash! You need to buy at least the most common keys (E, A, C, D) and then head straight on to YouTube for the tutorials. If you can, buy all available keys.

For the beginners, never give up!

P.S. By the way, the most popular kinds of harp are the a) 10-hole diatonic and the b) chromatic. Ang kanang ginagamit sa blues ug sa mga sonata ni Alanis Morissette kay diatonic. Kanang gamit sa manglilimos, chromatic.

There's some talks about an Asian Blues Harmonica contest to be held in Manila but no definite details yet. This will be organized by Tom Colvin of Blues Asia Network.

Ang diatonic, 10 holes ra, mas barato, commonly used in blues. Ang chromatic, 12 holes or more, mas mahal. Di kaayo ko ka explain sa technical aspects ug sa mga music theories. Naa pa diay usa, tremolo harmonica -- mao ni sya kanang dunay 2 holes per note, usually ginagamit sa mga manglilimos, mas taas kaysa diatonic.

Most common is the key of C. Pero kinahanglan gihapon nimo ang ubang keys aron maka jam ka sa lain2x nga songs.
