I hope Marcus Smart would still be available for the 7th pick. I've read that he's a solid two-way player, just what the Lakers need in the PG spot. And oh, KD was quoted saying (referring to Smart), "He can play in the NBA right now, definitely." after Smart showcased for 39 points against Memphis. Hehe.
I also hope they re-sign Jordan Hill and Jodie Meeks and Nick Young. Only 3 players showed up for the Lakers this season: Hill, Meeks and Young- and I do hope they get rewarded with another contract from the Lakers. (though Young could very well be picked up by another team with a better offer). Re-sign Farmar as well.
As for Free Agents, the Lakers should set their eyes on Trevor Ariza and Kris Humphries. Both players aren't at any level of brilliance but they're solid contributors. And let's all face it, Kevin Love wouldn't be coming here. He doesn't like to and we couldn't make it work.
Here's how the line-up I imagined it to be:
C- Robert Sacre
PF- Jordan Hill
SF- Trevor Ariza
SG- Kobe Bryant
PG- Marcus Smart
Back-up Center
Kris Humphries
Nick Young
Jodie Meeks
Jordan Farmar
Steve Nash
Kobe's contract definitely didn't and wouldn't help. But that is neither here nor there. That's why right now, the best thing they can do is still to build around him. Old Guy Mamba can still play, I believe that, but he needs the rest of the team to do everything else he can't do so well anymore. Bringing in another top-tier player wouldn't help right now. There's too much pride and too much distractions involve.
Now, I don't know if this line-up would work money-wise but maybe this line-up could at least bring the Lakers back to a certain level of respectability. Gone are the days when Kobe can do it all and win it all for them, they need more people to contribute on offense as well as in defense and players who hustle and I believe this line-up could do just that. And contrary to what we all believed, the best assets aren't clamoring to be in a Lakers uniform anytime soon (hell, just bringing back their player with expiring contracts wouldn't be easy anymore). As I see it, barring a miracle (and I'm sooooo praying for one or two or ten miracles for the Lakers), we won't be bringing back the Larry O'Brien trophy next year. Not yet.
hagbay ra ng nba ready si marcus smart.... na invite gud na syas team USA minicamp last year..... the only non NBA player nga na invited.... ready na unta na sya mgpa draft last year, but decided to go back to college to even polish craft so samot ng ka nba ready bataa...
tungod sa ka weak sa draft last yr prospected as top 3-5 si marcus smart.... pero cgurado this yr moubos na sya..,, maau unta maabtan pa sa #7 ....hehehe #bleedpurpleandgold
Marcus Smart has a word BUST written on his forehead. As a PG, he has a terrible AST-TO Ratio, terrible scorer, terrible handles, and a lot more!!! Perfect fit for this team!
Just a correction ... Smart wasn't the only college player on the US mini-camp last year. Doug McDermott was there too.
^oh yah my bad.... it says doug mcdermott was added later in july..... about marcus smart, probably not a bad pick at the 7 range.... if the kid has flaws, it's not something that can't be corrected at the pro level..... si andrew wiggins bitaw, all he's got for now is his athleticism.... but coz the "potential" above the ceiling, #1-2 prospect lng gihapon.....
but thnx for the input.... it's nice of u to share info to the lakers thread.... im sure we'll see u more often here more than there in ur own thread....![]()
tanan draftees naay flaws @FAQ and we're just exchanging ideas about the best available draftee at 7th pick and it happens that marcus smart is the best option we got. a 2 way point guard who could stand in front of today's young and athletic guards, just what exactly the lakers need.
he may not have the qualities of an elite point guard, but his competitive nature, unparalleled work ethic, a strong (bruising) point guard and his explosiveness are the qualities that makes him appealing.

pairing jordan hill with sacre is probably not a good idea @redemption32. it might work defensively but certainly not on offense. pair these guys with someone like pau or any big who is a threat offensively and it should work.
Agree.. Mayta available pa si smart sa atong 7th pick.
Pwede pod si randle.
Here's to hoping that he's gonna fix his flaws. Thanks for pointing out the weakness in his game. However, on my part, he is the best option for the Lakers at pick number 7. If Exum or Randle or Parker or Wiggins or Embiid would still be available, then they would be the way to go.
BUST would be too strong a word. The guy's obviously got potential. We could never be sure though. I think he's gonna be solid for his first year. I may be wrong.
Yeah. But there aren't a lot of them offensive-threat bigs on their way to L.A. though. I feel it's best to cultivate the talent they have now. If they can still work through their money issues and bring Pau back, then that would be awesome. I say let the bigs focus on rebounding and defense. This line-up has more than the chuckers they need.
If Byron Scott will be the Coach of the Lakers mao ni iyang masulti about kay Kobe Bryant:
Byron Scott says if he were to coach the Lakers, Kobe would have to adjust, and ''change his game''.
Byron Scott on Kobe: ''He's gonna have to change his game a little bit and he knows that.''
''He knows me and Im an old-school type of guy.'' Byron Scott adds he has a good relationship with Kobe, and would be a ''perfect fit''.
