Could you give some advantages why we would PREFER to become one of the U.S. State?

one advantage very obvious in the short term is that if we become a US State, we become part of a major military power and China will not bully us like she is doing now.

for the long term.. it takes quite a pragmatic perspective to see a glimpse of the advantages... and I admit, there are a host of disadvantages too.

still... history tells us, that Manuel Quezon was indeed very accurate when he said about the Philippines being run like hell by Filipinos.. very accurately so.

consider, if the Spratlys and the other "Rocks" in the area that belong to the 200 mile exclusive economic zone, part of the State of the Philippines, being one of the United States of America.. would China be bold and aggressive enough to build Navy structures like she has done now? If, we send elements of our US Navy to deliver supplies and reinforcements, would China be bold and aggressive to fire water cannons at our personnel?

perhaps.. you would not think so still..

bullying may not mean war when the bully is a giant bullying a pygmy ... but when the bullied is as capable of retaliation.. go figure..
