In Pakistan, it seems that even babies can be suspected as a murderer. The bizarre news, which has been picked-up by KHOU.com, said that 9-month old Mohammad Musa, together with his father and other family members, are charged with attempted murder because they allegedly threw rocks at gas company officials last February 1.
During the court trial, Musa was carried by his grandfather Muhammad Yasin and cried when his fingerprints were being taken.
“Everyone in the court was saying ‘How can such a small child be implicated in any case’? What kind of police do we have?” Yasin said in the report of AFP.
According to the AFP article, Yasin recounted that the police and gas company officials came in their Ahata Thanedaran neighbourhood without prior notice and began to remove gas meters from their houses. The residents protested and blocked the road and only decided to stop when senior police officers arrived and told them that “no injustice would be done.”
They later learned, however, that cases have been filed against them.
Yasin also claimed that the police was conniving with a rival party that wants them evicted from their land.
Meanwhile, the KHOU report said that the residents were protesting the lack of electricity in their neighborhood.
At the trial, Judge Rafaqat Ali Qamar granted bail for Musa but also said that they should “record a statement”, the anchor from KHOU said.
The police later on decided to drop the charges against Musa and suspended Inspector Kashif Muhammad. Muhammad is the officer that wrote the report that the baby should be included in the attempted murder case.
