very few students make it to the end of either cs or it.
there wer two blocks taking IT when i was in first year. surprisingly, only 6 or 7 graduated on time. some survivors (around 15) will graduate five years after. the rest didnt make it.

Actually, most IT companies now give extensive exams before hiring anyone. Even if your a laude if you dont pass thier exams, sorry...
But if you can go try studying i the US: Caltech, MIT, NYU, UIUC, Berkley, Standford, as they can offer you better exposure, equipment and training, but then again budget wise, this schools are very prohibitive....
Right now, your best bet would be to get certification exams, I know of some people who never went to college but passed certification exams (CISSP, CISA, Avaya, SUN, CCIE, SCEA) some of them are currently earning more than 100k USD a year.
BTW, IT grad sa USC ko and mam pena is the shiznit!) iyang gi tudlo gamit kau na if you're going embedded/firware dev

your best bet is your own skills!. and the ability to learn fast!.
best school?. donno... it all boils down to passion and hard work LOL.
