it's the thought that counts. true. and the effort... kana. di jud na makaligtaan og appreciate sa usa ka babaye. BUT to answer your questions TS...

i like flowers. i like to receive them. i makes me feel happy. their colors, their smell... doesn't need to be really exquisite of some sort. i know some women don't prefer to receive them since they don't last long but whenever i receive one, i make the most out of it. place it in a vase and place it by the window where it can welcome a bit of sunshine. i like the sight of it by the window.

i like chocolates but not as a gift. ako nalang siguro palit because naay chocolates nga di ko ganahan. haha

BUT what i really do prefer are "any day handwritten notes". ambot if it sounds too old school or mushy. but before, i used to do this to my friends... i write them a note of encouragement or a joke or something and just drop it in their bag... any day... nothing special. then i just wait for a day for them to find it. imagine how a piece of paper and some written words can change a person's mood.

so yeah. it's the thought that counts. di kaayo ko ganahan anang giving of material gifts. i know it sounds grand and lovely and special... but sometimes, when it comes to material things, maka huna2 ra man gud ko na makapalit ra nya ko ana or maybe material things nga di ko ganahan or di nako type or di ko ganahan sa color... siguro ok ra na if kaila na jud mo kaayo kay at least you know the likes and dislikes of a person na.

@Verbal di man siguro sarcastic smile. nakasuway na ka nag sarcastic smile ang babaye nimo? maldita siguro toh or unappreciative. ako i have tried that ikadaghan pag high school. i receive it with gracefully and happily kay i guess that means someone admires you and looks at you from afar. i say thanks. i make sure that when i bring it around, i handle it with care kay tingali inig dawat grabeh og thank you pero taod2 gilabay ra diay to... pero if ang naghatag naay other intentions and di jud ka ganahan or interested or you have a boyfriend, ako i tell the person honestly but in a kind way. that is possible man. just choose your words properly before you say anything. kay you'll never know how those words can make or break a man.

u can never go wrong with flowers! kung mo-buy kag bag/shoes, what if dli appealing sa iyaha ang imong gipalit nga design? safer choice jd ang flowers hehe AND nice sad ang feeling if hatagan ug flowers.. feeling loved jd kau bah

mas better migo f unexpected kau imong paghatag bah.. usual akong bana few days before sa occasion, padungog2 na dayon na siya nga dli lng siya mohatag, dli nlng ko mag-expect..but on the event itself, ngbitbit na dayon siyag bouquet.. mas kiligon ang babay ana ky unexpected jd kau bah!

Here's my logic to both items....

Flowers - ok fine. it looks cute, it looks beautiful. But instead of spending hundreds of pesos for a bouquet of flowers that will only last for 3 to 5 day (swerte na kung kaabot ug 7 days). Then it goes to the trash! Waste of money and the aesthetic aspect of it is very TIME LIMITED.

Chocolates - I don't really have much of a sweet tooth. Just like flowers its appeal is very limited because you'll end up eating the chocolate anyway. Waste of money again for me.

Personally, although chocolates and flowers have always been a tradition for men to give it to women on Vdays. I think its best to give your special someone SOMETHING that SHE CAN ACTUALLY PUT TO GOOD USE and something will last for a longer period of time.
    love and care? ipakita..
