Just want to share some of the most basic questions in a job interview:
1. Can you please tell me about yourself? ( The purpose here is the interviewer wants to know your communication skills, how you express yourself and how you organize your thoughts. Constant practice here is very useful. Here you talk about your school achievements as a college graduate, your family background, what have you been doing after graduation and what are your future plans as a person. Better write it and have it checked with someone who is good in English.)
2. Why did you apply for this job? ( The interviewer wants to know what you can contribute or what are your skills that will make you useful to the company. For example if you are applying for a salesman, you may say you enjoy selling, you are an outgoing person who loves to deal with people and loves fieldwork rather than office work. For a call center, you may say that your good command of English and communication skills are suited for the job you are applying for.)
3. What is your idea about this company or how did know there is vacancy ( Here you should give time to research about the company. Reputable companies especially multinationals can be found in the internet about the nature of their business and their products. For example you may mention that you saw their products advertised in TV and posters. As for the vacancy, you may say from a newspaper or thu a friend.)
4. Why did you leave your former company? ( In here, honesty is very important. Remember that HR of every company usually communicate with each other to check or investigate the background of applicants. They may even talk to your former boss or superior to gather more information before they finally hire you. So if you have a negative record better tell the interviewer honestly and explain your side of the story. He may give you a chance if he finds you truthful.)
Also be sure to do the following during the interview.
1. Listen carefully to the question before answering. If you don't understand it ask for clarification.
2. Make an eye contact to the interviewer. Avoiding it is a sign of lack of confidence and may be misinterpreted as disrespectful.
3. Don't forget to greet the interviewer at the start and thank him/ her after the interview.
4. Dress in a business attire and come well groomed. To the gentlemen avoid maong and tshirts and ladies dont come in shorts and sexy attires.
Hope these help.
