yes... but i advise a second opinion...
August 3 - NO CLASS (well, that's somewhat depends on the administration of the school you are attending)
AUGUST 6 - NO WORK (well, that depends on the management of the company you're working for)

HIGH school and college students in public and private schools in Cebu are in for a long weekend, after President Arroyo signed Proclamation 1345 declaring Aug. 3, Friday, a special holiday.
It will also be a special non-working holiday on Monday, Aug. 6, as Cebu Province celebrates its 438th founding anniversary.
Tomorrow’s holiday was declared to give high school and college students nationwide more time to register for the Oct. 29 synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
“Majority of the Filipino youth who will register for the barangay and SK elections need ample time to travel to their home province, city or municipality where they reside. There is a need for the State to declare a special holiday for high school and college students in public and private schools, in order for them to exercise their sacred right of suffrage,” the proclamation read.
It added that the barangay and SK elections are one mechanism where the youth can fulfill their role as partners in nation-building.
“The State must give every opportunity for the youth to be responsible citizens by participating in the barangay and SK elections,” it said.
Education officials, however, said they still have to receive an official copy of the proclamation before they can make the announcement to the divisions and schools.
As of press time yesterday, both Department of Education 7 Director Carolino Mordeno and Commission on Higher Education 7 Director Enrique Grecia said their offices have not yet received a copy of the proclamation. (NRC)
