for me the best thing to do is:
- refrain from panicking, i know it's hard to do but if you panic, he'll panic as well and may stab or shoot you instead.
- try to beg but don't over do it, they only need the money so give the money not your wallet or bag. on phones, if you can get ur sim much better, just remain calm while asking him nicely.
-listen to his voice, be attentive of what he is wearing and what weapon he has, and features that you can clearly see so that it will be easy for you to describe them at the police station.
- don't bother to chase them after they rob you. they might shoot or stab you. run on the opposite direction and ask for help.

these are only based on my experience, i've been held up twice. so thankful that i'm still alive. it's really tough to live and have fun in mindanao.
