Default City dads continue protest against CCTV purchase

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Council has continued questioning the purchase of 30 units of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras worth P15 million by the executive department.

In yesterday's executive session, at least three councilors have complained that the P500,000 cost for each camera is too expensive when the city could have purchased some P10,000 to P15,000 worth of each unit.

"Half a million for each unit seems a very large amount," said Councilor Margot Osmeña.

How much CCTV of yours cost? Not a good thing for you since these cameras were already installed.

The cameras were already installed in the different intersections in the city and in the Office of the Mayor at the basement of the City Hall's executive building, a matter Osmeña also questioned as she hinted that the Mayor's office is not disaster-prone.
Where are these intersections kaha?

Ah maobah. Mao sad diay ng ako nakit-an sa may old carwash mabolo (now a gasoline station). Tag 300K diay na each? I'm not really knowledgeable sa pricing gyud pero from your POV reasonable ra diay ang 500K.

Again, I also headed a nationwide company cctv project, using the same brand but lesser spec than that of Cebu City... Industrial type may cost double, tripple (on our case), even quadruple that price (on our case).

15M for a 30 Camera is obviously expensive, pero di pud ingon ana kabarato as some suggested. Because you need to consider the cost of the whole infrastructure, not just the cameras...

While the fixed cost has already been determined, what we want to see now is the Monthly Recurring Cost for data transmission, data center maintenance, etc. And second, are there any budget appropriation for these facilities? Otherwise, we will see another 15M about to be thrown in garbage cans...
