Let's wait to see if he will not turn out to be another Honasan who got overwhelmed and subsequently got sucked into the political system. So far, I see Trillanes as built of harder stuff. I admire the man's standing on his principles at the cost of his freedom. Gringo never suffered that much as he just kept on hiding.

I'm glad you are one to see the light also. Everybody knows he did wrong in that OAkwood mutiny. Sad to say, most stop right there and demand that he be punished without even analyzing the reasons behind his actions. I think that if the likes of Rizal and Bonifacio were alive today, these same people wanting Trillanes punished would be demanding for their heads too as penalty for their treasonous acts.

His brother soldiers were facing the enemy with armaments that may or may not work, wornout shoes and a diet not enough to sustain their souls. While they were risking their lives in pitiable conditions, the generals were playing golf or chomping on a Havana cigar while sipping expensive wine. Some, like Garcia, were busy filling up their local bank accounts or salting dollars abroad. He knew that if all these stolen or wasted millions were invested on the soldiers themselves, his brothers would have a better chance of surviving the horrors of war. The poor man went through the normal channels to air his grievances but to no avail. Sick of these conditions, he rebelled against an establishment that refused to correct the system.

For decades now, we have been electing people like Angara and Enrile to the senate. Yes, the same people whose logging businesses has denuded the forests of Quezon and Samar and caused the great floods in those areas. We also elected do-nothing movie stars. Are they better people to represent us than Trillanes? It is sad for our country that some refuse to test the mettles of a proven principled man and would rather have TRAPO's continue their reign. We complain about graft and corruption. Well, we have a slight chance now that change may be effected from a non-traditional source, why can't we support him? Between those who abuse their positions to enrich themselves and a man who stood up to defend his brothers at the expense of his freeedom, who could represent us better?

A slight possibility for change or continued path to graft and corruption with the TRAPO's. Make your choice!
