Why do Filipino movies suck?

Let's not generalize this. I think not all. There are Filipino films that are worth watching and keeping. Comedy films for one are worth a bag of popcorn and a cup of soda. Not all but some. Indie films are also emerging and we can observe significant improvements in this area.

They suck because stories keep repeating again and again. There is always a theme of love bisan horror pa ang salida, kinahanglan naa juy love. Unlike movies outside our country if horror mao ra juy i focus.
No new ideas emerging sige la'g pang rip off sa foreign usahay d pa e credit ang gi kopyahan. All movie always end up in happy ending,
wa gyuy mystery. Thankfully sad nga ciritical ko mo pili ug movies tan awn sa sinehan kay dako jud ko nasave kwarta.

There were many decent Filipino movies back in the day.

• Magic Temple
• Magandang Hatinggabi
• Hiling
• Puso ng Pasko
• Calvento Files: The Movie
• Wansapanataym
• Tong Tatlong Tatay Kong Pakitongkitong
• Haba Babadoo, Puti Putipoo
• Batang X and Batang Z

...to name a few.

Many of them were daring and full of imagination. Heck, even the romantic Jolina Magdangal movies back then were decent for what they were. The horror movies were genuinely scary, the comedies were genuinely funny, the family movies had heart (not the manipulative BS you get these days in TV shows like "Honesto"), and so on.

Most of the Filipino movies coming out these days are about romance, which is not necessarily a bad thing, if it weren't for the fact that ALL of them seem to be really shallow and are just the same storylines recycled over and over again. The general themes are: cheating, lust, secret homosexual relationships, more cheating, love triangles, more lust, more homosexual-themed stories, etc. Nya ang mga actors kay recycled; ok ra unta kung lahi nga genre, kay maski sa Hollywood ang mga actors recycled man sad, pero di man, kay usually romance film ra gihapon ang bagsak sa mga Pinoy actors.

Ang problema is, even though current Filipino movies are pieces of tish, patok man gihapon gud. Tan.aw nako na-habit nlang jud na sa kasagarang mga Pinoy nga mutan.aw og pinoy movies and tv shows, bahalag incompetent pa kaayo na pagkabuhat. Ang CGI sa "fantaseryes" kay walay kausaban since 2005 or something; maypa ang mga Pinoy commercials, naa pay progress. Even with that said, obserbahi gud pila ka Filipino households ang nakatutok gihapon kada gabie either sa ABS-CBN or GMA during dinner time and onwards. Mura gani og part na jud na sa ilang routine.

Nya common pajud kaayo sa mga Filipino movies ron ang DIRECT RIP-OFFS, bahala pa'g wala'y sense, basta maka-copy lang. Katong "Aswang" nga segment sa isa ka recent nga Shake, Rattle and Roll nga movie with Iza Calzado kay naay direct rip-off from "Elektra" (Jennifer Garner). The scene ripped-off was with Typhoid Mary, when the plants wilted as she was passing by some bushes. And it made sense, kay powers ni Typhoid Mary kay plant-based man to some extent. Pero sa Shake, Rattle and Roll, wala lang, nilabay ra si Iza Calzado sa mga bushes, nya nalaya lang ang mga tanum. Why? "Just because." Wala lay explanation gud, basta maka-copy lang, kay medyo "cool" manto nga scene sa "Elektra." Nya karon I'm hearing nga ang bagong Panday movie ni Bong Revilla kay ripped off from Clash of the Titans, among others.

why filipino movies suck, it's becoz,mostly, title pa lng, pwede na matagna ang story ug ang ending.. i feel awkward and bland everytime i "incidentally" watch pinoy movies.. except lng to most indie films nga naay content ang story dt is worth watching and contemplating.. but the rest, same damn mechanics nga para lng ma amuse kunohay ang target audience..

murag ok ang subject: i love you about hacker hehe, unique sa usual filipino film genre... sa mga writers ra gyud na daugon.. may untag at least mka pantay tag storytelling pareha sa japan koreans thailand na ma adapt sa hollywood films.
