    Bangon Visayas -

Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan), the most powerful cyclone in the world to date, slammed into the Philippines on the month of November 2013 just weeks after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit islands in the Visayas.

The Visayas island group was under the red zone area. Locations such as Tacloban, Ormoc, Daan Bantayan, Bantayan Island, Dulag-Tolosa Leyte and Concepcion Iloilo were left under devastation, claiming a thousand or more lives.

    BREAKING NEWS:

JANUARY 2014 TROPICAL DEPRESSION "AGATON" UPDATE:

The national government lists 27 areas in three regions as having already declared a state of calamity, ranging in size from entire provinces (Agusan del Norte, Lanao del Norte) to moderately sized cities (Iligan, Tagum, Butuan) to smaller towns and municipalities (Cateel in Davao Oriental, Bunawan in Agusan del Sur, and Bislig in Surigao del Sur, to name only three).

A tropical depression that has brought flash flooding and landslides to the southern Philippines has left 45 people dead and displaced more than 260,000, authorities say.

Nearly 900,000 people have been affected by the heavy rains brought by Tropical Depression Agaton, having lashed the country for days, says the country's national disaster agency, with more than 55,000 families currently in emergency shelter in 585 evacuation centers.

PAGASA said the LPA, which was last spotted northeast of Davao City, dissipated Wednesday morning.

However, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will still have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms.

Small sea craft and fishing vessels are also still advised not to venture out into the seaboards of Luzon and Eastern Visayas due to big waves.

The LPA, which intensified into tropical depression "Agaton" and was later downgraded back to an LPA, has claimed at least 45 lives, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The NDRRMC also said 68 people were injured while 8 others remain missing.

    RELIEF AID NEEDED:

As you all know, TD Agaton struck Mindanao and parts of Eastern Visayas last week. While the winds wasn’t as damaging as typhoon Yolanda, it brought with it heavy rains that caused massive flooding and landslides in northern Mindanao forcing residents to evacuate their homes. What’s worse, those affected by Yolanda in Eastern Visayas are still living in makeshift shelters, making it harder to cope with Agaton.

In line with this, we are again asking for aid from you. Though food aid is still being brought to Eastern Visayas and relief efforts from the Yolanda calamity are ongoing, those in northern Mindanao are yet to receive aid. We are still in the process of coordinating with LGUs and NGOs in Butuan and CDO for the transfer of whatever aid we can collect here in Cebu. Top on the list are housing materials and medicine.

    Donations for Rebuilding/Shelter are needed:

    Sleeping Mats (Banig)
    Used Bed Foam
    Used Tarpaulin
    Tents
    Blankets
    Used raincoats/umbrellas
    Hammer
    Nails
    Mini saw

    *Relief goods are still welcome*

    For monetary donations:

    174 - 027111 - 4 (Dotex Marketing)
    China Bank, Guadalupe
