    Default Does science contradict religion?

In some grade schools teachers are teaching little kids the bible story about noah arc, adam and eve etc, which greatly contradict science and some kids really belive the bible literally and this reduces their scientific thinking about the world around them, instead of thinking(ex. age of earth, carbon dating, DNA etc) kids or even people becomes lazy and just solves any scientific answer as god created this, god did this.

....I am not sure if you stated the concern clearly, but from what I get, you have an issue as to the Creation Story being part of the Science Subject and is being used as an explanation as to how the world began right? (let me know if I am mistaken)

If I am correct, My take would be, as we really cannot be sure how the world started and what we have are only theories and!
Since the Creation story may not even be considered scientific and is not the consensus of all, then, I would suggest to put the Creation story under the subject on Religion.

Now, it really depends on the school and the higher body that decides on the syllabus.

    That's my take.

Also, in regard to the topic which is posed as a question (Does science contradict religion?), I would like to suggest looking into this particular proposition.

I am not sure if you are already familiar with the concept but its called NoMa (Non-Overlapping Magisteria) See link below:

Non-overlapping magisteria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some would argue that Science explains what is known to us while Religion explains what cannot be known.

    Share share lang. =)

Ako I believed in science...because science always finding the truth with reality, while religion inventing its own suppositions.

IMO, science doesn't have all the answers and there are far more unexplained and undiscovered things out there. Religion may "contradict" science but let me give you an example which totally defies science. There's a community of Microbes that lives in METHANE. Just when we thought life forms cannot live without oxygen we then discover that there are life forms living on the stuff that is supposed to kill them.

How about those creatures living in the deepest places in the world, places were scientist thought nothing would survive due to the crushing pressure? We found life there. Not just micro organisms but species of crabs, fish and others, those creatures contradict science too.

Science is, in and of itself, too young and cannot explain everything.

I absolutely agree that science cannot and may never explain everything. BUT, everything that has been explain has been explained by science. Science explains using theories that are based on facts. Theories are the best we have in explaining a phenomenon.

Religion on the other hand, purely guesses and invents childish ideas that are supported by zero evidence (especially at point of fabrication) and facts.

I am an atheist, by the way.
