Steve Francis returned to Rockets
Francis has agreed to a deal with Houston. Before he was traded to Orlando in 2004 as part of a multiplayer deal that brought Tracy McGrady to the Rockets, Francis spent his first five NBA seasons with the Rockets. He was sent to the Knicks in early 2006 and played for them until he was traded to Portland last month in a draft-night deal. The Trail Blazers bought out his contract for a reported $30 million last week, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Andres Nocioni resigned and Joe Smith signed with Chicago Bulls
Nocioni, a restricted free agent, signed a five-year contract reportedly worth $37.5 million. The Bulls added some depth to their frontcourt with the signing of the 6-foot-10 Smith to a reported two-year contract worth the mid-level veteran exception of $5.36 million annually.
Both Nocioni and Smith agreed to their deals last week.
If Francis can get over the hump and end his game struggles, then it's going to be real big for Houston. But still in question is whether or not Francis and McGrady will get along together considering that both players are looking to score.
The 30-year-old Francis was recently bought out of the remaining two years, $34 million of his previous contract by the Portland Trail Blazers. He received nearly $31 million in the deal.
With money being no factor, Francis chose the Rockets over Miami, Dallas and the Clippers. The Heat are believed to have offered him more money.

Suns sends Kurt Thomas to Seattle
Phoenix gave away Kurt Thomas to the Seattle Supersonics along with two future first-round draft picks for a future conditional second round pick. The deal gave the Suns a salary cap relief and an $8M trade exception which they could use in their future dealings. According to Steve Kerr, the reason why they gave away Thomas is to keep their core players for several years.
Seattle will have the Suns' 2008 and 2010 first round picks while the Suns receive the Sonics' 2009 conditional second round round pick (via Orlando).
As of now, the Suns still have 11 players on their roster.
