I just did mine and am currently updating to the latest firmware which is supposed to be released in August but was already released last June for CDA generic world 2 and recently for CDA generic world 1.

I don't know if this will work on smart locked og globe locked P990i's but hopefully it does.

UPDATE:

Just finished updating my phone using the technique outlined above. Here is my new sofware version:

PDA:
CXC162036 R6D23 (original was: CXC162036 R5A17)
Phone:
CXC162037 R9G007 (original was: CXC162037 R9F011)
CDA:
CCC162007/1 R6D23 (original was: 162008/75)

Here is a list of CDAs with corresponding software updates with color coding to tell which cda-sofware pair is latest (light blue):

I can say that it is much more responsive than before.

@comicgeek, ang akong unit inig update nako kay updated man daw ang firmware bisan ug naka R9EC pa ko. Pwede ni akong unit maka update ani using this technique?

people kinsa nakasulay anang mo restart nalang cya og iyaha ra? kapoy kaau inig tan-aw nako sa akong phone mangayo og choice na phone on or flight mode mura gikan restart...
